  1. @snow? norfolk n chance Guess that covers the whole of January in your mind then - I hope you're wrong but may well be right...
  2. Make me also someone who doesn't have anything to moan about. Before yesterday I was a moaner but my pleasant surprise waking up yesterday morning to an inch of snow (even if it did melt by lunchtime) leaves me satisfied with December's weather, as I initially thought it would be average to mild throughout. Not to mention the fact that the snow wasn't even on the cards for me yesterday even though snowflakes were falling the size of my fists! Before yesterday, in fact, I thought I may have been looking at a winter with no lying snow! @Gord, Very true! To add to winter 2006/2007 (a seemingly mild winter overall), February 8-10th brought almost continuous snowfall for me on 8th and on the second half of 9th. That event, (in addition to the late-January 2007 event) was almost two months off.
  3. So the Telegraph recently published an article saying "record high temperatures" over Christmas! http://www.telegraph...er-arrives.html I think it will be closer to average to be honest, just on the mild side. Peak of mild should come 21st/22nd.
  4. Hear you. He'll probably do a blog later explaining his views which should help people understand where he is coming from.
  5. It really is quite odd of Mark as I usually admire his forecasts and the detail he puts in. Really hope he doesn't turn into a "say what they want to hear" forecaster.
  6. Isn't cold air supposed to push back Friday? The models do show a minor cool down from the mild on that day but could it be underestimated?
  7. Mark Vogan has also said about a widespread White Christmas but at least he hasn't nailed anything unlike Madden, and has actually explained his views properly. He has also made it clear that it's just a possibility.
  8. When you say "where we are headed for in the near future", do you mean the mild weather mid-week or after Christmas up to the New Year?
  9. Today for me: -Hard frost overnight with minima of -2c and sleet/rain puddles from yesterday freezing over. -About 8.30AM heavy snow falling within a 100 yard radius of me. 100 yards away no snow and clear skies. -9.30AM, 2cm covering, a very pleasant surprise for me. -All snow melted by lunchtime, maxima of 4c. 10. To be honest, last December wasn't particularly snowy, at least not for me. However, it was bitterly cold, and the cold would have been less severe if we did have snow (i.e. cloud cover). The snow came in late November and continued into the first two days of December, after that it hardly snowed for the whole month - but much of the snow remained on the ground because of the intense cold. The only snowfall for the month I saw after that was some small flurries around or after the 16th.
  11. Just woke up to 2cm of SNOW!! What a surprise!!!!! Temp currently at 1c
