  1. 11th December 2017, we was supposed to get snow here but all we got was a a few flakes on the Sunday afternoon. Areas further south got a right dumping.
  2. 9 years ago since the peak of this heatwave. It was a fantastic spell of weather, it did feel weird sunbathing at such a late time of the year however, most of the garden was in the shade because of the low sun angle and the sun felt really weak even though it was touching 30C. I also remember there were a lot more bugs and spiders about then usual!
  3. Yes remember October 2008, it didn’t snow here but we had some decent frosts for the time of year. The weekend of the 25th was a complete washout if I remember correctly and the colder air followed on from that. Sort of ushered in the colder period that followed for a few years. October 2012 had a colder period as well but we had no snow on that either, just a few genuinely cold and sunny days.
  4. I experienced the storm over Leeds, was possibly the most intense storm I have witnessed. It started at around 15:30 as a few rumbles and the odd lightning flash with some light rain and it seemed to pass over but then stalled. About an hour later all hell broke lose, the sky turned green and I noticed definite rotation as the storm seemed to pivot back towards us. The lightning was then constant and I have never seen hail like that before in my life, the whole road was white over for hours afterwards. It lasted around 3 hours in total. If it wasn’t a supercell then I can only imagine what a true one must be like!
  5. Yes I would definitely say today’s storm is one of the best ones I have ever seen. Never seen so much hail before. Didn’t expect that when I woke up to 9C and steady cold rain this morning!
  6. I did notice the rotation in the storm also, can still hear the thunder now. It was actually scary driving through it because I thought the windscreen was about to smash! It’s the closest I have seen to a supercell for many years anyhow.
  7. I have never seen anything like that before, when the sky turned green I knew something was coming but didn’t expect that! Multiple CG’s and the ground is white over with hail, temperature has is also dropped to just 4C. Absolutely insane!
  8. I remember the end of October 2008 being really cold with frosts. Not sure of the exact date but think it was around Halloween.
  9. Lightning and very loud thunder near Leeds, did not expect this today, better than the storms we had in summer!
  10. Thunder in Guiseley, had a few loud booms, didn’t expect this today!
  11. Yes definitely and noticeably lower in the sky, not complaining though!
  12. Fantastic weather here today, beautiful warm sunshine but you can definitely feel the weaker sun compared to a few weeks ago.
  13. Really noticed how low the sun was all day today, it went behind shade a few times when back in June our garden was in the sun pretty much all day. The UV levels were also noticeably lower.
  14. I’d definitely put 2019-2020 in the worst winters category, it was dull, wet, mild and boring and Covid has soured my memory of it. 2015/16 & 2016-17 are also up there (can barely remember much from 16-17). 2013/14 was awful but it was interesting from a weather viewpoint at just how relentless the storms were. I enjoyed 2017/2018 for its variety and also 2010/2011 (obviously for that unforgettable December). 2012/13 was good also, but the cold really did start dragging as it went all the way into April, the country felt like a barren wasteland until well into spring! 2009/10 was so cold, it felt like the first “proper winter” in my lifetime. I was young but I remember 2000/01 being good for snow.
  15. I was on holiday in Lanzarote but I remember seeing videos all over snapchat and Instagram. I was actually jealous of the people back home seeing at how unbelievable the storms looked, I wasn’t jealous afterwards when the weather turned crap though!
  16. No just general radio I think. A more recent one would be George Ezra “Blame it on Me” from autumn 2014.
  17. Yep I was only a kid at the time but remember it being played on the radio loads, very nostalgic!
  18. Yes definitely feels like that, big difference compared to June (not like we had much sun in June) haha
  19. Lovely sunny day here today but I can definitely feel that “Autumn chill” in the air. Probably one of the last nice days for a while especially with How bad tomorrow looks.
  20. The importance of being Idle by Oasis from 2005. Think it has been mentioned but Modjo - Lady Hear Me Tonight from late summer 2000.
  21. Yeah on the whole it’s been a poor summer, apart from the end of June and the first two weeks of August it has been rubbish here. Even the August hot spell was fairly cloudy (with no storms). Nowhere near as bad as 2012 but one to forget I think. Feels very Autumnal today with heavy rain.
  22. Storm just passed over North Leeds, looks to be heading towards the Dales
