Remember snow on good Friday as a kid, that would have been 1998. 2008 was cold with snow showers all day and we woke up to a covering on Easter Sunday. 2013 was freezing with snow on the ground but the day itself was dry. 2018 it snowed all day Easter Monday and Easter Sunday was cold and wet. I remember 2000 having a thunderstorm but that’s for another thread.

Bumping this thread because the sunny weather today reminds me of March 2012 except much cooler. Coming up to nine years since this! I remember sunbathing in the last week of that month and it was probably the earliest tan I’ve ever had. One week later however we had a couple of inches of snow which felt like a total shock to the system. April was nearly continuously wet and cold from prolonged showery days. After having drought warnings they suddenly turned to flood warnings within a couple of weeks. As others have said a really interesting spell of weather especially as the rain never really abated for the rest of the year.

Yeah it’s been the longest and hardest winter of my life. It’s been pretty much cold from late November to now apart from the odd mild spell. I love seasonality and cold winters but I really can’t wait for spring warmth and sunshine now. Having said that the sun does seem stronger this afternoon than recently.

Reckon it’ll be towards the end of March, maybe around the 26th

The coldest and snowiest here since at least 2013 especially January which felt like the coldest month for years. Ended very abruptly after the February cold spell however. December was fairly dull but the Christmas week was very cold. I’d rate it 7/10.

Apart from the depth of the snow on the 22nd-24th my abiding memory of March 2013 was how bare the trees were going well into spring and the lack of any signs of spring for weeks. The beast from the east 2018 was extremely intense but shorter in length compared to 2013. I remember snow on Easter 2008 and also we had a really wintry spell with snow showers in March 2007. 2006 was cold throughout (almost like a 2013 lite) and also I remember snow in the first week of March 2005.

I said 2017 a few pages back but we had a few decent thunderstorms and a hot June so I’ll retract that. I can’t remember much from 2008 apart from a cold December and a dreadful summer, think I’ll go for that.

My 3.1 has gone for a Burton

I will remember the gorgeous weather of lockdown 1, the stand out last year though was the unbelievable storm on the 24th September that wasn’t even forecast. Never seen hail settle on the ground like that. The lightning was mental as well!

Was a let down for storms here, we had heavy showers and it was really humid but it never got going. We had a really good storm on the 8th August that year though.

And for the record I’m not really a fan of very mild weather in February, just feels like a waste, same as a cold august

18C max next week (which is still exceptional), there’s no way we will get 24C like I’ve seen some posts saying. We were about to go into the coldest weather we’ve ever seen a week ago remember (according to some models)

What a gorgeous day, if only all our winters looked like this and not 8C, raining and muddy!

Didn’t beat my station record of -5.9C on the 28th February 2018. Really thought I would be in with a chance last night, shows how remarkable that Beast from the east was I suppose!

Looking forward to spring warmth now

Proper snow in LS20, not the vicious Pellets of ice we have had for the past two days!

A lot of people in the model thread will sit on the computer in depression because day 12 is showing a mild spell even with a blizzard blowing outside. I stay clear of it, so could you guys tell me what next week is going to be like? Similar to March 2018 maybe?

Freezing fog and fully overcast and yet it’s still fully daylight. 1 month ago it would have been dark now, picking up the pace now

Didn’t think we’d beat the 14th January but this is the most we’ve had all winter. It’s melting now but did not expect as much as this!

Been good for cold and snow here, reminds me of 2014-15, lots of snow up north but nothing down south.

Even with the cloud and rain today definitely seems brighter compared to a month ago. Small steps but as we go into February things accelerate quickly.
