  1. Nick. BBC have me down for predominantly rain from midnight onwards. The likelihood of them getting it wrong at this point is unlikely. http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/ne6?day=0
  2. An hour or so ago the temperature here (car thermometer) was 3c. I think it will be rain/sleet at best for me. May as well shut my curtains now then. Oh hang on, what's that famous proverb? If it rains in Dundee, Newcastle shall see drifting heavy snow.
  3. If high pressure builds in from Tuesday onwards, we don't really have much of a window of opportunity. BBC/Met have me down for rain showers most of the time up until a period of snow between 6am and 9am on Tuesday morning. That'd be about bloody right!
  4. That's a Met Office ramp and a half This is the type of situation where nowcasting is handy, because in an unstable airmass snow can (and will) crop up at short notice.
  5. Sounds promising, obviously still time for it all to go titticus verticus however ... I was hoping Sunday would see us get some snow showers.
  6. Is Tuesday looking like our only window of show-hope or would you say there are chances before then, such as Sunday?
  7. I don't think it was announced in advance that Manchester Airport was going to be closed due to snow today. The point being that at such close range things can develop. We may get nothing but we mat get something. I have high hopes from Sunday to Tuesday as things stand.
  8. I'm sure Northerlies have produced no snow in my location in recent years ...
  9. I'm taking nothing for granted but the MO have issued a yellow snow warning for Tyne and Wear (and other NE regions) so they must be pretty confident even at this range that snow showers are going to be prevalent. The caveat is though, they can remove the warnings!
  10. Had a covering of snow overnight which had frozen slightly, so had to scrape it off the car windscreen at 07:10. Better than nowt!
  11. I hate people in Darlington and Thornaby. They all smell.
  12. Had quite a few snow showers here today but nothing sticking apart from on cars that have been parked probably all day and are cold. Surprised we've had snow showers but as yet nothing that would warrant a yellow warning!
  13. I think I'll hang fire with the excitement, it's a rarity for snow to hit us here in Newcastle in a westerly regime as I've said many times before. The Northerly Sunday onwards probably represents my best chance of snow so far this winter, particularly if there are any troughs or the wind veers NEl'y for any length of time. We shall see ...
  14. I'd sooner "suffer" that US storm than a piddly NW/N toppler
  15. £2.75 would suggest that these are just George mens gloves
  16. Textable Gloves? You mean you can get gloves for texting nowadays? I do struggle to keep up being in my early 40's but I can text without gloves
  17. LOL! Just been out in the car, thermometer says 11c. It'll be a shock to the system this next weekend in terms of windchill. In fact the windchill might be the only noticeable element to the next cold spell for us, but it sure will feel quite raw. I actually like Northerlies, they are always quite biting. Not sure we'll do well in terms of snow showers but I suppose it's a case of wait and see from here on in.
  18. Kindly keep this kind of filth to yourself. Many thanks.
  19. Yes and I've got splinters up me jacksee! Am I reading the charts hopelessly wrong or are they showing a NE'ly element to the isobars next weekend? But just to reiterate, I think I'll stay on the fence until at least Tuesday night/Wednesday.
  20. I don't know what to think atm, I'm firmly on the fence. I think we need to give this evolution another 2 or 3 days to see how it develops regarding snow chances in the NE.
  21. You may as well just drive down there and deliver it for him. For free.
  22. Welcome to mine and Nick R's School of Reverse Psychology Weather Forecasting I've written winter off, there's no chance of this latest let down episode materialising. Cold rain incoming
  23. Maybe ... just maybe ... ... we have stumbled across a new type of reverse psychology weather forecasting? Someone in the MOD thread mentioned "the wishbone effect" for later next week. Gavin? Gavin? GAVIN? GAVINNNNNNNN? REGIONAL HOSTS?????? Someone, anyone ... give our winter a lifeline!
