  1. It's already been raining almost non-stop here now for over 24 hours. The BBC say it will continue unabated (bar an hour) for a further 36 hours. Ridiculous.
  2. 12c to 13c in the height of summer and plenty of rain about over the coming days. Oh dear.
  3. Yes it's been pretty "average" here for a couple of weeks now for the most part. I was at a BBQ on Sunday and it was only barely warm enough to sit outside when the sun was out, as the breeze was chilly feeling and it was quite cloudy at times. For mid-summer this is poor.
  4. Cheers for the reply, I thought it seemed a bit too cold This week looks decidedly ordinary weather-wise for us in the NE. No real heat, nothing overtly cold and the odd shower here and there but with plenty of cloud about. Suits me.
  5. Off topic, but the homepage says the current temperature in Cairngorm is -25.5c. Is that right and is that normal for this time of year?
  6. Haha I noticed that too! I thought maybe I'd pinned it there on my page using my settings (nobody else would have it pinned), but obviously not. We're special
  7. Light rain here now. Typical as I was hoping to sit outside this evening with a beer. It was quite pleasant earlier in the afternoon.
  8. Quite a warm day was Friday. Car thermo was up to 27c mid-late afternoon. It's bizarre because it's been raining here for about 45 mins but the decking isn't properly wet yet! No sign of any thunderstorms unfortunately.
  9. Felt more like January out there today in the rain, and a noticeably chilly feel to things. The beauty of British weather is, we can go from 28c to 13c inside 7 days during the heart of summer!
  10. After some glorious sunshine yesterday afternoon (which allowed beer garden frequenting!) today is now pretty cloudy but quite pleasant.
  11. No idea what time it was, but I was woken by a loud clap of thunder and quite literally torrential thundery rain. Off out on the drink today, so hoping the sun burns through this murk and leaves us in pleasant sunshine once again.
  12. It doesn't feel anywhere near humid enough for thundery activity. The car thermo is only saying 18c and it's noticeably cooler out this evening, which should make sleeping a bit easier!
  13. Yesterday's pyrotechnics were brilliant! More please ... MORE!!
  14. Glorious day today. Totally glorious, and felt like the warmest day of the year so far up here!
  15. By and large a pretty decent day here today, with some pleasant sunshine and copious amounts of blue sky to be seen.
  16. I forgot to say, on Tuesday we had sleet mixed in with the heavier showers and the car thermometer was reading 5c at 17:30ish. Pretty damn cold it was and very wintry feeling in the raw wind. There is still a noticeable chill in the air for May.
  17. One more good day tomorrow then it's back downhill for a while temperature wise by the looks of it.
  18. Personally I've found the passage of weather between Friday and today quite interesting and enjoyable. Yes it would have been great had Friday been a precursor to an almost summer-like weekend, but by the same token to experience the marked difference in airmass and weather types in the space of 3 days has been worthy of note in my opinion. Had some pretty heavy rain here today too (before the sleet arrived briefly) and it's been a little while since we had such heavy rain here.
  19. Wow, pretty wintry scene there! This weekend has been really quite remarkable. Friday 19c, yesterday 10c, today just before the rain cleared the temperature was 5c and there was definitely sleet mixed in with the rain. Sun out now ...
  20. I think it felt more accentuated by the fact that the breeze on Friday was welcome and almost summer like. Today was a cold biting wind and very "wintry" feeling. Glad we wrapped up for the trip. Very clear day out at sea though in really sunny conditions.
  21. I ventured down to Seaton Sluice beach earlier today with the young un. What a difference a day makes. The wind was so cold it was unbelievable!
  22. Glorious day here in Newcastle today. Car thermometer touched 20c which obviously won't be right but still it's been a warm, wonderful day with a light breeze. Be quite a difference tomorrow as BBC has us down for 10c!
  23. I tell you what, the 31st was a pretty impressive day in terms of weather. After a pretty dire winter and a seemingly endless period of "nothingness", the intensity and nature of the wintry showers was brilliant. I saw sunshine, rain, very string winds, hail, sleet, snow and superb cloud formations all in one day. Pretty much a "full hand" in terms of weather aces.
  24. I've seen falling snow on a few occasions this winter and woke up to a "covering" one morning, but in all honesty this winter has been up there with one of the poorest I've endured in terms of wintriness. Be nice to get some milder days now.
  25. Any wintriness up in the Lakes at all recently? If so, any pictures?
