  1. Pretty dank, wet and occasionally very wet today. Nothing in the models to suggest any noteworthy cold spell it seems. More of the same for now ...
  2. Definitely, I had to scrape the car windows for the first time this winter.
  3. Had a very wet Christmas Day and predominantly wet on Boxing Day too. Today was cooler and sunnier. Really feel for those flood affected areas further afield. Anyway, tentative signs of colder weather .............
  4. You've gotta feel for those people in Cumbria who have already had their lives turned upside down. It looks a certainty that they are in for more flooding very soon. Anyway, if I don't post again beforehand I hope you all have a very Happy Christmas and stay safe.
  5. 14c in the heart of December, a week after snowfall. The world's gone barmy, barmy I tell ya! Still, if we can't have ice and snow, I still maintain I'd rather we have very mild weather like this to at least make it feel pleasant out and about.
  6. I'm looking out at around about an inch of lying snow, it really did come down for a few hours here just a mile from Newcastle city centre. Brilliant to see although it'll be gone by lunchtime tomorrow.
  7. Well, still no rain to speak of here all day. Spits in the gusty winds and that's it. That must be why the NW and Cumbria are getting flooded, the rain appears to be disappearing over the Penines. Amazed that the forecasters last night predicted heavy rain here all day. The joys and perils of weather forecasting I suppose!
  8. No rain to speak of here since last night, but it goes without saying the wind is very strong and the gusts are quite something. Fences and roof tiles are going to be weakened or damaged from this impressive storm.
  9. Well I saw falling and settling heavy snow on late Friday night and into the early hours of Saturday morning. Quite a stormy affair it was too with very strong winds forcing the snow to settle on the house windows. That in itself is something noteworthy as far as wintry weather here is concerned. Although it was a brief "blink and you miss it" affair, it's a bonus and better than nothing!
  10. Yesterday we switched almost seamelssly from Autumn (16c) to Winter today (6c). Wow, this what I love about the weather in the UK. From the sublime to the ridiculous almost instantly! Obviously they were car thermometer readings but the difference is stratling really. The showers that cam ethrough were impressively heavy too. Very wintry feeling day!
  11. Despite being mild, today started off really quite foul. It didn't get light until later due to the weather conditions and some of the rain really was very heavy and slapping off the windows. Then it brightened up but with some quite prolonged heavy showers and a rainbow chucked in for good measure. Good old British fayre really ....
  12. We had 31 seconds of sunshine, unfortunately it was at dusk! Did you use a tape measure?
  13. A distance of "around 643 metres" is rather specific. Not 640 meters, not 650 metres, but 643 metres. Tell the truth, you went outside and measured it didn't you?! Plenty of fog around these past few days, I like fog, it's autumnal.
  14. Love this time of year. Leaves everywhere, nights drawing in rapidly and quite autumnal. The rain this morning was really heavy here for about 2 hours or so. Great for the central heating this weekend, but probably not feeling very seasonal for my liking.
  15. Yes, notably mild today with the car thermo still at 16c now. But the outlook seems to be reverting back to chillier evenings/nights which will be a little more seasonal thankfully. As I'd not been online for a few days I missed the excitement of faux weather charts from the ECM which chucked out something colder. Glad I missed all that to be honest. Plenty of winter time disappointment ahead to be had yet!
  16. Two pretty decent consecutive days to end the week after utter dross Monday to Wednesday! I'm liking these chilly mornings though, it feels quite autumnal as the tress start to change colour
  17. So glad I took this week off work. It really is very trying to glean any positves from the last 3 days of weather! However, for my birthday tomorrow, the sun hath promised to shineth
  18. Pretty good week here weatherwise. I see there's a cold pool developing over Russia. It's starting ....
  19. Quiet a nice day today, plenty of sunshine and feeling pleasant in just a t-shirt. Nice video posted above, hopefully we'll see plenty of the white stuff over the coming Winter months
  20. No posts on here for 10 days?! Bloody hell troops, come on! Lovely day today, but a decidely chilly feel in the air too. Sunset was lovely, I spent all evening driving up and down the A1058 Coast Road and caught a delightful dusk. As the leaves are now falling, my thoughts are starting to turn towards my favourite time of the year ... winter! I think we're due a little bit of good fortune this winter, after some really poor efforts in recent years. The last decent wintry weather we had in Newcastle was in the two bad winters in 2009/10ish.
  21. Had some pretty torrential rain about 3pm in Newcastle, I mean absolutely lashing it down and bouncing high off the road. That after a fairly dull and wet morning with some chiefly lightish rain. Then by 4:30 the sun was out and it was like a different day! British weather rules!
  22. I'm still not sure how the BBC 5 day forecast online got it all so badly wrong at short notice! Monday was another glorious day and today was also really pleasant in the sunshine. Tomorrow looks gorgeous again, but Saturday onwards looks decidedly poor (maybe the BBC have got it wrong again )
  23. Yes Boro Snow, a delightfully clear day here too in Newcastle. And it's still wall to wall sunshine now too. The forecast going forward looks decidedly miserable for the next few days though, with lots of cloud around and very little in the way of brightness. So I'm off out into the garden to make the most of this fine settled day.
  24. Great win for Nottingham Forest yesterday. Supporting Forest is actually a chore these days. Spent the day in Nottingham yesterday and the weather was lovely and quite warm. Looks nice tomorrow!
