  1. The same can be said of the snowy winters I enjoyed as a kid. Pretty foul today when that rain arrived.
  2. Never mind, 10 weeks from now the snow chase starts
  3. There was a coolish breeze by the coast up here today, but warmer inland in Newcastle. It was nice to see clear blue skies though once the morning cloud had been eroded.
  4. I had warm wind on Friday morning too. I did have a very naughty curry on Thursday night though so understandable really. I got my washing dry rather quickly in that warm breeze. It was ok weather for being out and about overall.
  5. Pleasing to see that you were all concerned about my wet underpants. Thanks a lot folks. It's bloody windy tonight, but such a mild/warm breeze after a really humid day.
  6. BBC Weather said today would be dry. Just had a heavy shower and now my smalls are on the washing line dripping wet.
  7. We had a very heavy shower around lunchtime today, the sky was almost black! The two (in quick succession) thunderstorms we had last night were lovely. Anyway, back to the football. Enjoy the rest of your weekend ladies and gents.
  8. We seem to have been stuck on page 51 of this thread for about 2 years now!! Anyway, I'm forecast 15c and a rather pleasant and dry looking Saturday. Hope so, a bit of sunshine at the weekend is always a tonic. Have a good weekend folks
  9. Had a fab day yesterday walking along the beach at Seaton Sluice with my 11yo daughter. It was typical of what I think was a Northerly airmass? Clear blue skies but very little warmth in the sun, so grateful I wore my hoodie! Saw the daily Emirates flight fly overhead quite low, and several other aircraft leaving Newcastle airport heading for warmer climes. People walking their dogs, an old couple sat on fold up chairs reading their respective books, two pony's being treated to a paddle in isolated areas of shallow sea water as the tide went out. And I thought to myself, what a wonderful place the coast is. Happy bank holiday folks
  10. I got drenched doing deliveries in that rain on Wednesday. After such a prolonged dry spell (by and large) it was a bit of a shock how bad conditions were.
  11. Yesterday turned out to be another glorious day, by mid afternoon there wasn't a cloud in the sky. It's that time of year though where it can be really pleasant in the sunshine (not "warm") but from tea time onwards it starts to feel decidedly chilly. Better than being overcast, wet and windy though so mustn't grumble.
  12. Today was glorious. Pulled back the curtains this morning to clear blue skies and it's been wall to wall sunshine til sunset. The cool down commences tomorrow unfortunately, but hey it's just weather
  13. Yes, quite marked difference in temperatures depending on location. I'm off work this week and as is often the case when I'm off work, I'll go for a few drinks in town on a Sunday afternoon. I made the schoolboy error of believing that the warmth would last until about 8pm, so I went out in just jeans and t-shirt. By 5:30 I was bloody freezing! By 8:30 I was lying in a hot bath to warm up!
  14. *some not sum! Yes, no heatwave on the cards for us but at least it's not 7c anymore! I can put my boxers on the line in the morning and just air them off after tea. On a more serious note, being out and about is more pleasant now. I've been wearing t-shirts for the last few days so that's a major improvement on recent weeks.
  15. Disappointing day today after yesterday's improvements! Tomorrow looks a bit better though and presently it looks as though further into next week looks quite promising too.
  16. Well you certainly won't see any snowboard's here in Byker lol! Definitely nice to see the sun and feel a little bit of warmth at long last today. With any luck we'll have a decent "beer garden" summer
  17. A snowboard?! How posh are you?! I use a bin liner and one of them old roadwork signs lol. Lovely out there today, noticeably milder and the sun is shining. Happy days!
  18. Go on, rub it in Here's hoping next winter will deliver some snow for both of us
  19. Well nothing here in the East End, not that I'm jealous of you or anything
  20. Huh?! Where abouts in Newcastle are you? No snow for me today
  21. Been too busy to log in here the past 48 hours or so, but what a fantastic couple of days it's been! Left work yesterday in heavy settling snow just outside North Shields which continued for most of my 20 minute journey home. Today, a really heavy 45min+ shower of light rain/sleet/heavy snow (which didn't settle today). If only this set up had been 2 months or so ago we'd have seen fun and games. But still nice to get silly weather when you shouldn't be getting it! The overnight frosts have been hard too. Loved the weather from midweek onwards this week!!
  22. Had a few heavy soft hail showers today and the wind was really gusty too as they passed through. Would be nice to wake up to an albeit temporary surprise tomorrow morning but I won;t be disappointed if I don't.
  23. It certainly turned noticeably chillier as the showers passed through here today! April showers in March!
  24. It's disappointing that as soon as the chances of wintry weather disappear, so too do the number of posts. It's the early hours of Saturday morning now, but yesterday was quite pleasant although it did cloud over after lunchtime. But pulling back the curtains this morning it was fantastic to see clear blue skies! Shame it's a bit downhill here on in this weekend though ...
  25. Gawd this weather is annoying, it's neither here nor there! It's coldish, but not white, not especially wet, it's not sunny (for long) and it's cloudy, and there's mist patches chucked in as well. But there's no mildness let alone warmth. Last weekend saw some decent weather but then as quick as it arrived, it bogged off! For heavens sake Mother Nature, make your bloody mind up what you want (us to have)!
