  1. It went dark hear earlier, radar showed heavy rain incoming, heard distant rumbles getting closer, then it just vanished off the radar. Must be Area 51 here LOL
  2. My god that is an insane video. I thought getting 1 strike a minute was a good storm LOL
  3. I still remember a forecast like this from about 30 years ago when I was about 12. Got so excited when the 9pm weather forecast said heavy snow spreading in overnight from the west, 6-10inches expected. Woke up really early and peered excitedly out the window and.. sunshine. It never made it to London, not even close. Just reminiscing, I still remember it like it was yesterday!!
  4. The way this winter has gone I would be happy just to see a single snowflake!!
  5. Lightning strike here. Was pretty close as virtually instant explosion of thunder.
  6. There is obviously a reason why it wouldnt work, but I keep thinking cant they just put fuses in the power grid that would trip on any current surge, and protect the transformers from overloading and sending us back to the stoneage?
  7. Article on the register about a possible long solar minimum. http://www.theregister.co.uk/2011/06/14/ice_age/
  8. Just had a lightening bolt hit the tree 10 metres from me window, an almighty explosion, and thats gonna shorten my life expectancy a bit. Sweet jeeesus that was bad!!!!
  9. Had 2 small T-Storms run through in the last hour, and a nasty looking one just south heading for Cen South London.
  10. Interesting stuff. I recently saw a TV docu on this and it was going on about several years or decades with reduced protection from the suns harmful radiation whilst it flips. All year round suntans maybe LOL
  11. Dont forget the worldwide 5 mile high tsunamis and Richter scale 13 earthquakes

Not trying to be funny but 10 billion or even 10 trillion condensing boilers arnt going to make a blind bit of difference to global temperature patterns.

  14. Went from spitting to wild in 10 seconds!! amazing!!
  15. Have seen 1 very weak storm all year here. (Spent 3 days in Budapest 2 weeks ago and saw 3 absolutely amazing thunderstorms so I think I need to move there soon!!!)
  16. I find this lack of solar activity truly fascinating, if it carries on like this for a few years our governments will be encouraging us to burn fossil fuels to keep earth's temp from dropping 3 degrees in the next 100 years
  17. I agree totally. The short, medium and long term look full of real potential to me.
  18. BBC forecast just said after weekend mild outlook hmm all models wrong???
  19. Only 1 thing is certain and that is that 168h charts will not be what the weather is in 168 hours. Not even close even if you could have all the worlds pcs hooked up and CPUs running at 100% at the models disposal. The models are guides as to likely weather patterns, but as I have seen in my 3 years on NetWeather things "set in stone" can change dramatically even at 24 or 48 hours!! As my limited knowledge sees it there is a trend away from severe easterlies at the moment, but I really do think it it still more uncertain than the usual uncertainty about what will happen later next week.
  20. @ steve murr I get excited at a 24 hr northerly but with the current output I am shaking with excitement. If it comes off like its showing it will be nothing short of amazing cold, snow and ice!! And I actually think its plausible this time for a change!
  21. Looking at the models it seems that a possible return to cold or even very cold is not out of the question in the next few days. If this is really a 80s winter then its to prove it by winning the 50/50 cold v mild charts. We are overdue a bit of luck surely!!!
  22. Looking at the different models it looks like an incredibly difficult situation to call next week, and the smallest changes today will render even T72 completely different. Its times like this that make me feel in awe of nature, even supercomputers cant second guess her.
  23. What a lovely satellite animation. Really cool and beautiful to watch, thanks!!!
