  1. A really interesting read, many thanks for this. All I know is that this winter cannot possibly be worse than last years, where for the 1st time in my entire life I did not see a single snowflake!!
  2. Quick 5 min storm moved through. A few flashes and heavy rain for a few mins. Feels like there is more to come.
  3. Not sure if this helps but anyone on Three mobile can use their call/text and data allowance for free in the USA. http://www.three.co.uk/Discover/Phones/Feel_At_Home
  4. How can we enjoy a wintry spell in late March, especially after a winterless winter!! All we want now is a nice spring, a summerey summer (heat, fine barbie days and storms) and a winterey winter 2014-15!!
  5. It was warn here today. I was in my tee-shirt at 7.45am for my 15 min walk to the gym and return walk at 9am. And this afternoon was like a very reasonable summer afternoon!! Bring it on summer!!
  6. IMHO 1/100 chance, but would... A: Keep my "seeing a snowflake every winter" alive for its 45th year just when I thought it would fail B: Make this winter even more mad!! c: Be cold
  7. Wow a lovely day for the 1st time in god knows how many days!! I am going to forget this "winter" existed and hopefully enjoy a lovely warm and fair spring, followed by a summer with fine days and a few severe storms, and then make up for the lack of winter 2013/14 with a big freeze 2014/15.
  8. The BIG question is.... will I see a single snowflake or a frost this winter???? Or can I call this winter "the 6 month Autumn"
  9. That is the single good thing about this winter, my Mum being of a certain age gets a £200 heating allowance and we havnt had our heating on for a single minute. LOL For the record this could be the first time in my 39 years of observing that I will possibly not see a single snowflake during winter. If I dont get a summer of heat and storms I will expect my mum to receive a summer "disappointment payment" of £200 also!!
  10. My heart goes out too all those who have been affected by the storms/floods. We desperately need a period of dry calm weather ASAP Come on mother nature, balance out the rotten weather with something better!!
  11. Somebody please turn this winter off, and activate a lovely warm spring. This could be the 1st winter in my entire 45 year life that I havnt seen a single snowflake, even a sleety one LOL
  12. This storm is looking nasty, I am hoping it will bugger off south into France but I fear the south are gonna get hammered. Take care everyone Sun/Mon, high winds are VERY dangerous to be out in.
  13. Outside temp 25.4C, in my room 32.8C, horrific tonight and sweating buckets. With these conditions surely a storm has to occur!!
  14. Last time I saw a "cracking" thunderstorm was 35 years ago. (when I was 10 yrs old) I remember lightning striking every second for 2-3 hours from 3pm, flood water 1-2 ft deep outside my house, and the high road was like a raging river (my dad took me out to see it!!). Maybe it was just a once in a lifetime event!!
  15. As the forecast for my area tomorrow is sunshine and a possible shower if im lucky, it would be ironic if it we got a massive thunderstorm and 100mm of rain!!
  16. Well as disappointing as this evening was, I have never seen 4-5 seconds of strobe lightning before!!
  17. Nice to see some lightning and rain, but that was no met office YELLOW warning weather!! They must are dumbing down, we'll be getting YELLOW warnings for cirrus clouds next!!
  18. Wow strobe lightning, never seen that before, must have flashed for 4 or 5 seconds!!
  19. Gentle rain, and 2 claps of thunder. Feels like an oven in my house tonight!!
  20. Mother nature will never sucumb to perfect forecasting, not in 10000 years!! She never ceases to suprise and elude everyone!!
  21. Yeah, about 1 second between flash and bang!! Hardly any rain though.
  22. Wow that was some seriously loud thunder, shock the house a couple of times
  23. For me it has to be overnight. Sky gets lit up dazzling white and thunder is always louder at night for some reason. And as with most things, in the dark they are more scary!!
  24. Following the storm chasing thread is as exciting as following the regional threads just before snow hits!! I must get on one of these chase tours in the next few years (Doesnt help that im a bit scared of lightening though!!)
