  1. Hi Frosty, to your knowledge, have you seen charts like this before in September with such a prolonged and blocked pattern?
  2. What classic lovely Autumn/summer weather, long may it last. Lifts the spirit! Great to see the fields in full harvest and the tractors out ploughing, so different to some recent years!
  3. Well it looks like I may have been correct.......but for the wrong reasons. looks like the orientation of our friend the Azores high may well introduce a fair amount of cloud especially for eastern coasts. Just goes to show how little orientation shifts of the high can change everything. Still a good chance of a fair amount of sunshine for some places and most certainly useable days.
  4. Just looking on the model thread page, looking good for high pressure to set in from the end of this week, not certain how Scotland will fare in this though, all depends on the orientation I suppose. It seems that we could get a quite cloudy setup as air may come from off the Atlantic! Please shoot me down in flames if I have this wrong, would appreciate input from the more experienced of my scottish forum buddies.
  5. I have recently moved into a flat in an old town house in Dunfermline which hardly gets the sun, my heating has been on a few times already! Woud love some late summer high pressure dominated weather, hard to see at the moment though. On a good note, great lampost out side my back door so great for lamp watching if we get any snow!
  6. Saw a whole flock over Dunfermline on the way home yesterday, it does seem a little early, last year my first sightings were in late September!
  7. I am looking for the Atlantic hurricane season to kick off, normally bring us our Autumn gales. With the current set up and if the Atlantic did become more active, do you think that a good proportion of ex hurricanes would be UK bound? If so I am wondering what this may do to our setup heading into Autumn and winter?
  8. A fine morning after a great evening yesterday in Dunfermline and Alloa. Just wondering if Scotland may take the brunt of the coming of Bertha, if indeed she actually hits us, lots of conjecture in the model thread as you would expect. Confusing to me is the fact that one model has Bertha strengthen as it approaches the UK, is this because of the energy already over us from the trough? excuse my ignorance about this!
  9. So warm here now in Alloa, hard to work! another sleepless night I think, even with the ceiling fan on full blast! Love the summer weather but a night or two relief would be great!
  10. Yesterday has to have been the best day of summer here in Lochgelly, and i saw the cirrus too trying to make in roads. Lots of low cloud and haar this morning.
  11. Fairly cloudy here in Alloa this morning, but the air still smells nice and fresh and its a good useable day.
  12. I am wondering about the extent of cloud cover in the coming week with the high being to the west, chances for substantial parts of our east coast to be fairly cloudy, still useable days but it seems that west may be best. Just looking at the model thread and they are jigging he high about a bit until later on its slap bang over us. Interesting times coming up I think.
  13. Cracking day today, just a few splashes this morning, feels round about 20c, warmer in direct sun. Hope this holds for the weekend, cycling and climbing in Attadale and Skye on saturday through till Monday.
  14. Currently a mixture of heavy cloud and periods of sunshine here in Alloa. In the sunshine its very nice, pleasant. Looking like it could be distinctly cold next week, what are the chances of some BIG showers and storms do you think?
  15. I expect some pretty hefty sowers too with possible thunder if we have any length of sunshine!
  16. Was playing tennis at Dunfermline tennis club yesterday evenin and I must admit it was very pleasant, nice and mild, dry with the sounds of racquet on ball. almost seemed like asummer evening. Looking good in alloa too at the moment!
  17. Well spent yesterday afternoon playing tennis at Dunfermline Tennis Club and it was lovely, brigh continuous sunshine. Today is no different here at my work in Alloa, after a very cold start -3 at lochgelly. Long may it last!
  18. Fantastic photo, what were the settings for that shot?
  19. Cracking day in Alloa after having to scrape a quite heavy frost off the car. The ground seemed to be frozen fora good few centimetres too, think it was colder than ws forecast at the BBC.
  20. Big squall racing through Lochgelly atm with winds really gusting (feels like about 50mph), lots of small hail, rain and sleet. Cool!
  21. ooh, look at that, the gfs could have been on to something!
