  1. I have a pair of Aldi's finest (NOT), must tradeup to some of those cashmere thingies!
  2. Would not like to be on the water in those conditions!
  3. The ole passion killers and string vests will be outed all over scotland by Friday i think
  4. Well with the possibilty of gale force winds and spring tides, i might get myself to kircaldy and get some photo's of the sea crashing over the wall ( or me being blown away)! This certainly is more exciting than the last 2 weeks but I kinda got used to having 'useable' days!
  5. very dark this morning in Lochgelly to start with then brightened up somewhat as i got into Alloa, seems very mild this morning 7.5 on my car thermomeer. Do you think we may get some back edge snow as the front moves away later this week?
  6. Hi Blitzen, where do you reckon the strongest gusts are going to be?
  7. DuncanK, I mirror your remarks and find Martins un biased comments extremely useful. I am on a steep learning curve and when I look at the charts and make notes, i compare them to martins to see if Iam on par or in the right ball park. Please keep posting Martin!!!
  8. I was surprised when I looked out my window a few moments ago and saw the grains flurrying in the wind. Feels really cold this morning too!
  9. Nice pics NC, especially with that snow shower just on the horizon It was very cold this morning, hardest frost on my car and the ground was solid. Garden thermometre says -3, lovely morning!
  10. What a beautiful morning, quite fresh and sweet smelling after the nights rain. Suns up now and its blasting through my works window. A little cool this morning at 4 degrees. Charts are looking good for at least a short cold spell later, fingers crossed. Hi, I am at an early learning stage, can you explain Tripole for me or point me to where I can find out more. Cheers!
  11. Well this was the frst morning this week without a hard frost and me having to scrape my car of ice. The rain last night about 7pm was so intense you could hear it over the telly! End of next week not looking bad for some cold and snow if it comes off, still early days though and anything and everything can and probably will happen!
  12. Stunning image, I want to be in that little blue bit lol
  13. I agree, excellent post from JH. Its especially good for learners like myself who ar often confused by conflicting posts. Posts like yous and JH's ais better understanding for me, many thanks
  14. The Atlantic is certainly firing up, its been a while since we had a meaty storm here in Scotland. Is this a good omen for the rest of winter? or is it just as likely to stay like this like other years have?
  15. Horrible wet wet wet morning driving from Lochgelly to Alloa. Lots of surface water. I woke up in the night to hear the rain pounding on the dormer bedroom roof, didnt disturb my wifes snoring though lol Hope Mtahew Hugo is proved correct and we get a very snowy December!
  16. Glorious blue sky hre in Alloa, really biting and gusty wind though. We had a real BIG shower first thing this morning whilst I was travelling from Lochgelly to Alloa, skies darkened, car lights went on and the rain pelted down. Hoping for a proper chill tonight now!
  17. Considering that the gravitational pull of a continent can generally cause the ocean to rise up the side of the continent by only a few centimetres at most it wuld be highly unlikely that there would be any 'localised' effects on the weather. This was the exact same question that I asked my phd supervisor so i have enjoyed reading the responses!
  18. Cant believe how mild n moist it feels in Alloa today, louds just starting to break to give some blue patches. My garden needed the rain! Having said that, i have bulbs that i have planted for the spring and they have sprouted already! Crazy!. What type of weather do you think the coming high pressure dominated models will bring. On the look of it it could be quite coudy for a while or at the very least misty and foggy first thing giving way to high cloud and some afternoon sunshine. I noticed on the model output page a big plunge of cold air on the continent, that will certainly help cool things down ready for our winter. Heres for a good week to come without any giant apples falling on our heads *scottish skier'
  19. Hi, it is sometimes confusing as a relative newby that you often see two posts like yours and Drazztic's together (186). One says relatively benign weather for the near future and no sign of change at day 10 and the other says increasing signs of unsetteld weather from mid month.I know that everyones comments are valid and i enjoy reading them, can you tell me what the differences are on the ECM that you both may be seeing differently? I am very much on a steep learning curve and would like to be able to recognise the differences that make people have different predictions.
  20. Very steady rain her in Alloa atm. Unusual dry air this morning, very still but no dew on the car window and then the rain jst started as if a switch had been flipped. Wondering what the forecasted high next week will bring for us, cloud and more cloud maybe?
  21. here in Fife, Scotland, we had a great weekend with blue skies and a temperature of about 15-17c although it felt much warmer than that in the sun. BBC forecast for this week shows relatively little rain for my area whailst others look very wet. If the models are correct, maybe another weekend of sunshine to end a lovely 'useable' autumn.
  22. Lets hope it gets cold enough to make doggy wee icicles this winter (poor dog)
  23. Well, it wasnt a full winter scrape of ice of the car, but there was ice when i used the squeegee (is that how its spelled?) to clear the screen. Very fresh and clear air but with a fair bit of cloud still. Love mornings like this!
