    I imagine GFS is over estimating the northern extent. It’ll probably end up shifting south over the next couple of updates, eventually in line with the BBC forecast ending up as rain in the channel/S.coast. We can live in hope though! ??

    December Synoptics pointed towards a cold, blocked pattern but look what happened. Trust nothing.

    18z GFS expands the snow risk across N Midlands, but looks transient.

    PPN increased upon approach to Stoke, as did the temps. Ended up with cold rain, 1.6c. Possibly warmer aloft, didn’t even get sleet just cold rain.

    Could we see a bit of sleet/snow from this feature this morning? Current temp is 0.9c near Stoke on Trent with dew points at -0.6c

    If the GFS 06z does verify, it pretty much nailed this scenario 5 days ago.. 16th Dec vs 21st Dec. Performing much better than the ECM of late anyway..

    Yeah, last winter was great for us! We had a fair few snow days. I think 28th Dec was my favourite. Snowed really heavily all morning, ended up with about 14-15cm of snow that day and it stuck around for a bit too.

    @MattStoke The 12z is an improvement for Mondays transient snow event! Would be nice to see that cold pool over Scandinavia just edge a little closer!
