Still the lack of light pollution must make for great star gazing Jules
Oh it's amazing compared to what I'm used to. Well when it's not cloudy!

Lol Jules I can just see you sitting at the window with a torch for hours on end. Make sure you have a load of batteries because as things stand it could be a long torch watch
Two black dogs at the ready. Any tiny flakes should show up well!

Having only recently moved to Ireland in the past 6 months have yet to experience real winter weather here yet. looking forward to radar watching with you guys. Streetlights don't exist out here in the sticks and haven't got round to getting the security lights sorted so torch will be at the ready for flake watch.

Must admit it does look very interesting especially for further north of the island but even down here in the hills of Clare.

East Clare reporting in. Snowing here, had a lot of rain overnight but it's settling on the car and vegetation just not heavy enough for the tarmac.

Good luck for the white stuff everyone. Not very hopeful down here in Clare but driving up to Sligo on Sunday so may catch a glimpse.

Met Eireann have awoken from their slumber

Was reading the social media this morning and all that was saying was that Monday was going to be windy, nothing like the Daily Express headlines.
I'm about 45 mins from Shannon airport with good access to M18 if anyone wants board and lodging!

Have seen very little in Irish media about this. Ireland going to get caught unaware or is it just being hyped up too much. Thankfully sheltered here from the South although from the South West wind could get funnelled up the valley.

Couple of rumbles and some big fat rain drops which meant had to dash out and rescue furniture that had been left out overnight. Wasn't expcting to receive anything today hence leaving stuff out overnight. Second shower just come through a bit heavier and a flash just now.

Hey guys just lurking in here, currently living in East Sussex but just starting the process of moving over to Co Clare. Hope it's ok to lurk in here from time to time. Good luck all for tomorrow

Not sure how reliable it is but TWOs Forecast for tomorrow has me down for blizzard conditions between 6 and 9pm! I suppose it's a question of will it settle or not, given the rain that will have preceded it.
On another note it shows just how fast things change as only a few days ago the NW of England looked to be the sweet spot for snow. I wouldn't of course be brave enough to post this in their Forum!
In saying the above, nothing has of course happened yet and we might all end up with nothing.
Good morning fellow Shammer. Can guarantee we'll get something as I'm having new turf laid tomorrow. Can see me hosing off the snow to make sure the turf gets it's daily water quota.

Hi guys
Do any of you know where I can find what sort of climate is usual in an area in Eire? Currently thinking about a move to Co Clare and know what West Clare is like was wondering if it was much different in East or North East Clare.

Me neither, give me anything but wind storms.

Can anyone tell me a good site or app to get pretty accurate current temperature and dew point? All I have to help me judge it is when I pop my head outside to see what's happening.. Basically it doesn't feel that cold yet but unless my eyes are playing up which is very possible at the moment there is the odd sleety burst occasionally

On the right hand side where it says weather stations if you click on the little cog you can pick what you want displayed, temp, dp etc

Due to the severe weather conditions forecast for today and Monday February 8th, speed restrictions will be in operation on some routes from 21:00 today until 03:00, and from 11:00 on Monday 8 February as a safety precaution.
Trains running after 21:00 this evening South of Three Bridges may be subject to delay.
We plan to run our Monday morning service as advertised, however passengers are advised that disruption is highly likely and to check their journey before travelling.
Passengers are being advised to expect delays and disruption as forecasters are predicting winds in excess of 70mph across the South Coast on Monday.
With the strength of the winds expected, railway infrastructure could be damaged as severe winds can blow debris and trees onto tracks and damage equipment and signals.
For more information on how high winds affect the railway please visit: http://www.networkrail.co.uk/timetables-and-travel/delays-explained/high-winds/
