How far out from central London - South Circular, M25?
TfL manage the red routes or the main roads http://www.tfl.gov.uk/corporate/about-tfl/what-we-do/roads

Well personally I'd settle for a two week dry spell, my back garden is a pure mud bath at the moment with the amount of rain we have had

Blue sky clouding over and moderate snow coming down.
Light now
EDIT: and stopped

Glad to hear that......I'm in the process of moving in to my new home just off the Battle Road, had some snow there on Saturday
Great news that you are finally able to make the move you have wanted to do for a while

As much as I like snow, I can't help wondering why some folk are so obsessed with it, to the point where they spend hours on end watching the models/faxes/radar etc and post every time there is so much as a slight change in the offing ?
It's a genuine question. Given this is a weather forum, where do you folk disappear to when the seasons change ? Are you not interested in any other types of weather ? It's like tumbleweed city in here for most of the year.
Heya long time no speak. For me I'm usually lurking seeing what is going on weather wise around the region I can only presume that others come on here to report the extreme weather, be it thunderstorms, severe windstorms (have I ever mentioned I hate wind storms!), high temperatures etc. We are a relatively benign part of this little island and I can understand why there isn't normally much to talk about. Lastly snow seems to bring out the big kid in all of us. I defy anyone to walk past a fresh patch of snow and not be tempted to be the first to place their footprints in it, something I never seem to get to do having 3 dogs that just muck up any freshly laid snow.

Hope you've got a 4x4
Yep
-
Certainly was snowing hard in battle but as we approached Bexhill the sky lightened so definite boundary of snow shower over us
Hmm I might have to take a drive up the road
-
Just had a brief 2 minute heavy snow shower, was a bit of graupel mixed in with it as well.
-
also worth noting Jules, the all the hi-res modeling is considerably off the mark with ppn spread and location as well......a lot more ppn on radar across the east midlands than modeled, and considerably further west.......more ppn will develop overnight, but for now, those showery outbreaks over the east Midlands/Wash are heading towards the home counties/M4 corridor across to Wilts
Yep, nowcasting at it's best!

Hmm interesting WRF NMM is totally different to the EURO4

Never ceases to amaze me that people on a weather forum take the BBC weather forecast as gospel

From Fergie over on South West thread when asked about their snow potential for tomorrow and Tuesday
No problems anticipated. Scotland/NI/Some parts N England issue re that occlusion. No real snow problems forseen this week for W Country but Thurs could be a tad bothersome over to SE parts.
of course plenty of time to change.

Iceni I can't come up with any suitable words, I can only echo what others have expressed.

Hi jules.
Just about covers us!
I'll take the 2 to 3 cms!
Hey Lawren yep I'll take that. Saw the sprinkling we had when I let dogs out first thing but went back to sleep so missed the next lot.

Yea I really miss SC's own thread tbh. I know it was quieter but even so at least I had a home lol.
I would say you have more in common with this region than South West, I always think that the regionals should reflect the MO regions

I didn't as I'm SE Scotland and we have no snow
Wouldn't expect any less from you though Jo

Might just as well get people to put their locations in as that will be the track that they predict!

Some of the posts this morning have been shall we say entertaining to read!
GFS charts have support from the WRF NMM
http://www.meteociel.fr/modeles/wrfnmm.php?ech=3&mode=1&map=330. Obviously this may change.

Having already witnessed winter wonderland scenes last week that cropped up at relatively short notice I shall refrain from commenting until nearer the time.

Hmmm that's accumulated precipitation up till about 1700 tomorrow. Hailsham is just inland from Beachy Head and inside that heavy bit. Big differences between NMM and EURO4.
