There's been reports on BBC News about flooding in Eastbourne affecting the trains and forcing evacuation of the shopping centre. Can't find a link to it on the website though.

Plenty of images here of the flooding in Eastbourne

There was a burst water main in Eastbourne this morning and I think this is what this photo is showing.

Early news on flooding in Sussex and what appears to be a house struck by lightning in Hailsham.

Rain rate record broken again at 11.26 142.8mm/hr seems to be easing off now.
-
To edit my earlier post recorded an intensity of 142.8mm/hr at 11.26 this morning. Rain seems to be easing off now which is good because there is alot of surface water on all the roads around here.

All time record for rain intensity on the weather station just now 99.6mm/hr rain total for today is currently at 33.7mm.
-
To give you an idea how heavy the rain is I have just broken my record on the weather station and recorded a rate of rain 99.6mm/hr. Obviously it was short lived but just goes to show how intense the rain is.

Torrential rain again and shotgun thunder with lightning to the south east, south west and north just came over as black as the ace of spades. Have had to put the lights on as it went so dark.

More rumbles starting around here!
Yep just heard a very deep one. Been told from someone in Eastbourne they had about 30mm of rain since midnight, I'm on just over 23mm so far but looking outside it has just started up again.
-
Woken by thunder about 3.30 quite distant that seemed to die off but in last 10 mins or so t&l right overhead with torrential rain

oops, now considering the warnings shouldn't they uncover them asap.
I did email them yesterday to question their 'sanity' but got the usual standard email in response. "We will reply to you within 10 days of receipt of this email". Will keep an eye on it and if it gets too bad will just go out there and take the covers of myself

Imagine what 70mm can do! nearly 3 inches!
Makes it even funnier the local council are supposed to be resurfacing the road today and have covered all the drains up in preparation for that

30mm of rain is enough to cause flooding trust me, several main roads were cut off earlier in the year after receiving just under that amount.
-
Excuse my language, but bloody hell have you seen the predicted rain totals for tomorrow afternoon/evening?
Widely an inch and up to 3 inches in some spots in EA/SE.
This must be an ex-trop depression with those totals?.....dangerous totals as well falling on rock hard ground. Expect flooding and poss tree damage with sodden ground and trees in full leaf up against gales...
Get building an ark people, this looks like about as close as we get to a Typhoon in this country!
Just popped down to Lidl and picked up a cheap dinghy!

Met O warning out for this system now. "More than 20 mm widely with low potential of more than 60mm"

TORRO have just issued a watch on Facebook

That's not Portsmouth in the UK there is no bridge like that anywhere near the water, Portsmouth US maybe.

Bowl of ice cubes in a plastic tub in front of the fans works great at cooling a room down

Yes, a surprising difference between the Euro4 and NMM. I have to side with the Euro4 on this one though. Here's the Euro4 'Accumulated Rainfall' chart for the period from now until 12.00 Wed 3rd June and it shows 3mm for your patch. For comparison, here's what Metcheck suggest for you from this evening through to mid-night tomorrow and the accumulated total is 5.5mm. (Metcheck shows no rain for you on Weds).

Lol I stopped using Metcheck when they forecast temps in the teens and snow!
