1C here, fire on watching Celebrity Big Brother with a can of Carling in hand. Party cloudy outside which might well scupper chances of a frost tonight.

if you look at the modes closely , each day there is slight movements westward, the ukmo has now picked up on this, this is just the start, the high to our east will grow a lot stronger, watch the low on Friday slide south east and the you see what i am seeing,
I fully support what he is saying, I've quietly been monitoring the westwards shift myself. He's right, as the high to our east gets stronger it will form a block causing low pressure to slide South East of the UK.

18z totally zonal and unsettled in the reliable timeframe
Atlantic overpowering a weak block
It's Barry White.... (Cockney rhyming slang).

This thread should be locked it's only the middle of Winter. Some people are getting far too giddy.

18z GFS is most certainly one for the bin.

I don't want to jinx it but I would say at some point this vortex will break down in feb and we will have a shot at a decent cold spell but a) everything has to fall into place still and even decent cold spells don't deliver for everyone, 2009 feb had blizzard conditions for a large part of the UK yet some parts of the North West didn't have a flake.
Such an uplifting post! lol

As long as I can remember I have never known a snowless Winter here, we've always had at least a dusting and even if it only lasted a day........... I guess there's a first for everything including a snowless one! But still I think there will be snow in Feb even if it's at the end.
I hope you're right!

Shocker so far from the 18z GFS! Are we really heading towards a virtually snow less Winter?
-
GFS 12z 8 day temperature anomaly shows most of the UK seeing slightly above normal temps the main exception parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland
You left out North Wales & part of South West England with slightly below average temps.
