Best storm I have seen this year, there were flashes every 15 seconds, sometimes more frequent, was not direct overhead though, thunder was not loud , just a constant distant growling , and nice vivid purple blue forks and sheets
the wigan storm shield must be down for maintenance
Do you think we'll see anything tonight Ian?

Continuous Thunder/Lightning & rain here now for the last 30 minutes. Seem to be moving away though now, however a very impressive surprise!

Still can't stop laughing!! Classic quotes from that vid...
"6ft of snow on high ground"
"-28C"
"there is going to be a low pressure looking to be around Christmas time"
"That's because the tilt of the earth is going to be more forward than last year"
"The jet stream is not keeping up with the motion of the earth"
"The jet stream fights off low pressure coming in from the west"
"i just call 'em bubbles becasue I don't actually know the names for them"
Typical, he has to be welsh as well!
It's comical to say the least. I'm friends with him on Facebook, can't wait to rip him to pieces throughout the coming winter. Think it's safe to say we won't be Facebook friends by the end of the winter! lol

It will be that time of the year again in a few weeks time when hopefully we will get early thoughts of the Winter forecast, wont be Stewart this year though.
Or whipper snapper Steve! lol

This may feel cool but it is just average here.Would that produce snow though at low level?
-4 uppers would make it very marginal at low levels, uppers of -7 and below (preferably -10) would produce snow at all levels.

I could be wrong but I thought this was a thread about the nights drawing in? Just saying.....

was getting hopes up of some thunder in the tasty looking cumulonimbus that just passed over, anvil formation and cauliflower tops, very dark cloud that looked like a ragged wall cloud as it approached and greeny brown colour behind that,
but not a sausage , just rain, and not really torrential ,just a little heavyish what the hell does it take here.
RUBBISH
It would take the end of the world, even then it would be touch & go!

Don't worry, it'll head off NE as it approaches here.
It's Swearing AGAIN poor isn't it mate everything just floats off to the north east of us then explodes once it reaches the Pennines. It happened a while back. Very annoying to say the least.
-
Gone black here! Some nasty weather around just to the north west of me.
-
Just saw a green trail one is that normal? Very chilly, dare I say it autumnal!
Saw one of those years ago when I was young so they must happen. Just been stood outside for 10 minutes and saw 3 or 4 none of them bright, bit of a let down up here. Must be too much high level cloud, normally get a good show here.

If anyone catches some good pictures of this years Perseids be sure to post them on here for us all to enjoy! Thanks in advance!

Not looking promising for any sustained clear skies overnight for the next few days which is a shame, still hoping to get some decent breaks though so I can catch a few streaking across the sky.
-
Light on & curtains were drawn at 9:05pm tonight, starting to become really noticeable now. #Autumniscoming

I'm currently staying in a caravan in the hills surrounding Llangollen, I'm expecting to observe a few tonight as its currently clear & when it gets dark its totally pitch black with very little light pollution.
-
Been noticing some activity from this months Perseids Meteor shower the last few evenings when looking to the east. Its expected to peak on the night of the 12th August, if we get some clear skies it could be some show this year.

Can hear that storm that's over Manchester from here, must be one hell of a storm!
-
Want to light a BBQ to cook my tea on but there are storms to the south of me, if I light it it will be sods law that they head straight for me so going to leave it for half an hour or so!
-
just heavy rain again here , yawn
anything since ,I am only 8 miles north and just keep getting heavy rain here, surely we are due at least a few rumbles ,
I wouldn't bank on it! Wouldn't mind it's gone so dark here as well, surely something's got to give!
-
Complete downpour here right now!
-
Moderate rainfall here. Nothing of much interest. Disappointing day, we had the humidity and heat but as usual, nothing else. Maybe 2015 will bring something.
Another European Cup hopefully from a biased point of view of course!
-
Lashing down here, surprised we've had no thunder given the intensity.
If it's not electrified it's not electrified simple as that regardless of the intensity. Sounds like it's stopped here, can't hear it outside even with my window open.
-
Looking at the latest radar (00:15) the intensity of the rain has dropped off massively within a short space of time! Still very intense in parts of North East Wales & Cheshire.

Nothing ever seems to happen in your neck of the woods does it? Had a cracking Thunderstorm here yesterday evening with constant rolling thunder, lightning every 10 seconds or so and torrential tropical style rain. Lasted about 40 minutes.
