  1. CO2 isn't causing the planet to warm. There has been very little warming over the last 15 years. This is contrary to the increase in CO2. Something else is causing it......
  2. All they need is Widow Twankey and they'll have the full set...............
  3. I especially like the part that says it's the first time it has been observed.... Interesting though.
  4. There are 2 threads regarding the LI. Both are archived but we can open a further one if anyone want's to discuss it. Part 1 Part 2
  5. This company needs to be monitored. Seems like they don't have a good track record when it comes to pollution. I understand the need for schemes like this to go ahead but surely there must be laws that make them keep it clean so to speak? Selby coal field had to disguise the pit tops and the spoil had to be removed and taken elsewhere to be processed so surely they should be tied to the same kind of regulation? Anyone know if this would be the case?
  6. I'm still not totally convinced it is a safe practice. As always with these things, time will tell. The potential for a cock-up will always be there.
  7. They can try. Never stop questioning......
  8. No, because all proxy data has an inbuilt error. Do they have differing levels of error? Yes, so some give a better feel than others. As for proxy data arrived at by using one area of the planet, local environment factors could adversely affect the result, just as European blocking patterns don't reflect global temperatures. Thanks for that. Will have a read later.
  9. As I've said before with regards to planning, I agree. Greenland is having a problem with extra melt with the potential to make life difficult for many people. Our leaders need to get their finger out. Who's going to make them? Not you or I Ian. We have about 1 metre of sea rise to go before we can say if natural variation is the cause of this extra melt, not that nature isn't capable of making things worse than this projection but I'll buy you a beer or two at Donny on sea and we can discuss "what next?"
  10. I saw something like this a few years ago. Wasn't as spectacular though.
  11. Proxy measurement has it's uses and I don't deny that but a small error can lead to huge errors down the line. Proxy data has huge error margins so it is fairly useless with regards to accuracy. It may give us a general feeling as to what things used to be like but basing any kind of mathematics around these figures is going to result in those error margins being carried through to the final output. Depending on what you are wanting to prove means you can grab any figure you want over a huge range of figures in that error margin and if one doesn't work then go grab another until it does. Nobody questions the data used because it is within the range of error. Does anyone have access to the raw data and the figures and calculations used?
  12. Did you miss the bit where I said we're due to warm some more? Did you miss the bit where I said Ice melts when temperatures rise? Perhaps the way I see things now is more frightening as we have absolutely no control over it whatsoever?
  13. Why would anyone with a time machine want to say anything else?? Oh.. Hang on..................
  14. I think it's telling me that 30 years is not long enough to work out what's happening other than ice melts when temperatures rise, which, to be honest, I can switch my freezer off and open the door to work that out. It also tells me that we're due to warm up some more because we are still below average in the temperature stakes.
  15. Fair enough. They made an arrogant claim that they said in many words that surmounted to the same thing only to admit in a live internet broadcast that what they though they knew was incorrect.I'm not saying all the work they turn out is incorrect. If that's how you see what I said, that ain't my fault.
  16. I shall always remember his enthusiasm. The programme to cover Halley's Comet was a fantastic example of that. Just like a young child with a Christmas present he was. He was a fantastic musician too and loved to not take himself too seriously.
  17. The thing is though Ian, NASA told us that we knew how the sun worked and went on to forecast the highest activity ever recorded for this current cycle. This on it's own set alarm bells ringing throughout the climate change community when it failed to materialise and is in fact the complete opposite. Not exactly the confidence builder the community needs. I am even more cautious when it comes to NASA claiming something now. I should imagine there are a great number of others asking why we should trust their findings in one form or another..
  18. If you look through the forum, you'll see this little area.... http://forum.netweather.tv/forum/162-model-forum-archive/
  19. We are living in a world that at the moment is in an anomalous state. We are currently well below where we should be regarding temperature. Even GW admits that, probably for different reasons but it is a fact as we know and understand it. The planet has to warm up to get back to normal. We have been giving it a push and may or may not have overridden a few safety features along the way but yes, ice will melt and Greenland will live up to it's name once more. Doncaster by the sea will probably never be the best seaside town but at least it would get a wash twice a day.......
  20. I think you're aiming at the wrong audience Ian. Most people would try and change things if they could. Try howling at parliament etc. and see if they are interested.... Try and force a debate. The tools are there. I'd happily sign something that tried to force those muppets to clarify things.
  21. And we're still colder than the law of averages say we should be, according to most figures. Unless of course they are wrong?.... Stats are a wonderful thing.
  22. True. I know the mainstream channels have to go with the current flavour of entertainment to make money but there's nothing stopping the government funded or a cross scientific community channel from happening other than the fact it will hit a bit of research funding that may be used for it. Do they want people to understand or what? Schools could be in on it too. If I can think of it then it ain't rocket science..
  23. I think you'll find most people turn over the channel when anything GW is on the screen because they're that hacked off with it. Personally I'd like to see more from the scientists. There is enough space on the digital networks to have a channel dedicated to it.
