  1. I agree with your points SI but if you can, could you at least try to post links etc? These pages are very popular with people who are trying to get their heads around the subject and it would be most helpful for those (or my slow processing brain). We can all be a bit guilty of this at times. Thanks
  2. The Koala has been under threat for many years. Nothing seems to have changed in that respect and this with support from some of the biggest protection groups. Things like this should come under a UN charter and direct funding. My own feelings on this is that we will lose the Koala in the wild unless something radical is done.
  3. I agree with BFTV. It's time to provide some evidence via peer review or respected blog/website. You can't prove a point just on 'because I say so'. It would be most helpful.
  4. The problem there is down to the fact that they do rely on it. I agree with the sentiments though.
  5. What amuses me is that the media are getting the blame for incorrect reporting of 'facts'. I don't see any corrections or apologies being printed for these media errors. Why would that be?
  6. Now that's where I've been for many years. There had to be an ice free/virtually ice free phase for this to happen. It is this kind of evidence that makes me question the whole Arctic ice problem. How long ago this was, to what extent and what exactly caused this phase is open to a lot of discussion. It has been touched upon on these boards before but never got any further than a few thoughts and was buried under an avalanche of 'it can't be so as it doesn't fit the theory'. Admittedly it may be a red herring laid out by a team of road laying 'deniers' or ancient aliens but it is something that has to be taken seriously as a piece of the jigsaw. It's obvious what caused it. It happens on beaches all over the world. Why won't they just say what happened?
  7. Why don't you set a webcam up and record it all ? Sounds like it could be interesting.
  8. Considering we're getting close to having to exit the dependence on oil and the tax revenues generated from it, there has to be something to replace it. The question should be is it fair and realistic to accept the level of green taxes that are currently being asked of all of us? I'd say that short term there should be strong support for it. So yes it is designed to tax people. It becomes unfair when the people who run these projects start syphoning off the money raised for uses other than the benefit of the county where these schemes are. Is it a hoax? There are certain elements that make you stop and wonder at times, especially when temperatures are no longer rising and have held stable for the last 15 years though admittedly at the highest levels recorded and people still shout "but they are rising" and then muttering "but only because of the 30 year rolling average". Does it control? He/she who has the power will always control..... Take the main fuse out of the power board and throw it away. Turn off the gas. Walk everywhere. While it might be something to prove to begin with, the modern world requires us to consume energy. Does that make a clearer picture of what these people are saying?
  9. Interesting read knocker and to a point I agree with what is being said. The way everything was approached from the beginning has ultimately backfired and created several splits in public opinion. This ties in nicely with my own views on car ownership and the lack of interest in developing a world wide public transport plan as part of the way forward. If there hadn't have been all the way wide of the mark comments from the IPCC and previous bodies or supporting scientists, there would be better plans being developed and the public would have accepted the need to change and would probably have been doing so for the last 25-30 years. This is the thing that has hurt the theory more than any so called 'denier' ever could.
  10. But it does cause all this cold weather. Have you not been watching and reading the news? Care to enlighten us with regards to these studies by providing links? Would be nice to read them.
  11. I think there's enough proof to suggest these pesticides are causing some of the problems and it is only since the introduction of these that the bee population took a nose dive. It could just be a coincidence and a temporary ban is the right move to make. It may take 2-5 years to see if the bee population grows but it has to be done. These companies that develop insecticides are only trying to find selective versions with a long term view of protecting the environment. These insecticides may not be the cause as the bees were already showing signs of stress. The lab reports are inconclusive, which means that bees weren't dying in at least most of the studies which leads me to believe that something else is at play in the general environment. Not everything in the world is a conspiracy......
  12. Plants.... http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/5342578.stm Met office getting it wrong.... http://www.telegraph.co.uk/comment/columnists/christopherbooker/6924898/The-Met-Office-gives-us-the-warmist-weather.html I'm not saying that this is actually from the met office and saying no snow but unless you had your head burred in a sand dune, the story was discussed in many places on the net.
  13. So planting more trees will kill us? At least this is one part of climate change I fully accept. The amount of totally unnecessary vehicle journeys each day has to be reduced and an agreement needs to be reached throughout the world with regards to public transport support from governments and restrictions need to be placed on private transport when the destination is supported by public transport. People always use the "well public transport is always unreliable" excuse, not realising that they are becoming part of the problem for making it unreliable.
  14. See, this is the if's, and's and but's I was mentioning. While ever there is this imaginary stuff nobody will see the point. It's like trying to impose God on everyone again after most gave it up as a bad job in the late 70's. There has to be a clear path to be able to convince people it is the right path to take. Why don't we make a list of things that we know are established facts? The reason why is so that we have a set of verified facts that nobody can disagree with. It has to be established 100%. No if's and's or but's. The thread is here.. http://forum.netweather.tv/topic/76440-100-established-and-verifiable-facts-of-climate-change/ Let's see what has been established?
  15. I don't think anyone doubts what might happen or at least they shouldn't. For me it's just a case of poor figures and observations that make me think they are well wide of the mark. The thing I've never had answered on here is this..... What exactly do we need to do as individuals? Personally I don't think I can do any more. We don't have green candidates in our area so can only vote in the usual parties either. The way you word things makes me wonder what it is that you do differently to myself? Even if I agreed with you 100% of the time (and believe it or not I'm actually not that far away), exactly what the heck are we supposed to do.....? No if's and and's or but's, How do we solve the problem in your eyes? In anyone's eye's even? There has to be a master plan you keep hiding from us. I can even imagine you tutting away as you read through stuff. What is this practical plan? I'm not asking for what you'd do in a dream world. Us so called unbelievers/deniers/insert latest buzz word are waiting and wondering, if this is all true, why are we all still at the point of waiting for world leaders to take note and act? What is it that you have to offer to start doing something now, without the condescending approach as though someone being a 'denier' would stop a majority from doing anything? I have no answers and yet I see very little being done.
  16. Some of my man made CO2 is in a bottle in the fridge and is combined with hops and stuff. Nothing warming about that until the glow sets in after a few..
  17. Comp = Comprehensive. What I'm getting at is if kids are being taught things incorrectly then what is the point of teaching it at all? I should imagine that the data given is from government figures and therefore should point to CO2 being the all evil gas that it apparently is. Being concerned about our environment is a different issue and all three of my kids agree with that 100%. Why there is that huge difference when there should be almost no difference between the two is something that needs addressing. I've a feeling that it comes down to having stuff rammed down their throats and have become rebellious to the subject, which is something I'd said was happening a few years ago. Just my observations and no scientific study involved whatsoever.....
  18. Yes. Our 10 year olds have covered plate tectonics in year 5. Then again, that particular group at the school are way above the national average and I think it's more comprehensive level. They also covered evolution at the back end of last year and I think that is a comprehensive subject too. They are also of the opinion that climate change is all about some men wanting to make too much money. The group came up with that opinion, given plenty of scientific information aimed at comprehensive school levels. Funny thing is, my 22 year old also came up with that opinion too while in the 5th year at comp. While I admit my kids know my views on things, I don't push my opinion on them and are told to question everything and make their own minds up. I also have no influence over the group either. Do you think there is a pattern forming perhaps??
  19. Low pressure heading off to Iceland, high pressure heading towards the UK.... Seems to be a traditional route for mid Spring. Very 70s. Let's see if things are being 'normalised' this year. Cooler temps and strong winds aren't unusual for this time of year.
  20. Who's denying anything? The ice is melting.... I agree. I'd much prefer it if you could get inside my head so you could understand my angle better..
  21. If all the Arctic ice melted, all it would prove is that ice melts........ It doesn't prove that any of the different theories are correct.
  22. I like the oilsands. It's about the only way my pension can keep growing these days..........
  23. Given the bit of hype on a few sites, it was rather poor in it's effect.
