  1. Looks like around the rush hour period will be the peak of the thunderstorms around the E Midlands. Stilling building up. Unusual to see such disagreement with the forecasts though.
  2. Got to say Sedona is the most stunning place I've ever been to. Must've been amazing with the storms in the background too. Great pictures!
  3. Back to moan mode - Lincolnshire again is it?! Can I look forward for something in the home counties for a change? (missing Lord's of course) Its been a rubbish summer round here storm wise for us. Stinking hot here at the moment.
  4. Similar conditions here. A little bit of mammatus cloud. Just got the washing in here; something is coming. But probably the bigger stuff will come around 4pm onwards.
  5. Well, ESTOFEX called it. Torro no where to be seen. Don't think many people expected this so early did they? Odd rumble heard at Lord's.
  6. Those looking for a storm may fancy switching it on SS2 right about now. Looks a pukka storm building up. Lights just gone on at NW8.
  7. Looking a little gloomy at Lord's. Where did that come from? Something on the horizon?
  8. 2,000+ CAPE predicted according to Netweather on Sunday. That won't happen.
  9. I'm always wary with what I read on Twitter, but is this right? Cumbria Crack Newsâ€@CumbriaCrack @Daniel_LUFC tornado warning issued large hail lightning
  10. I can't believe it! My location is where the squal line has broken! If only I was 25 miles further north in Milton Keynes. Looking very dark here though not far from LTN. Rain just started, wind picking up.
  11. So, here not far from LTN airport - what should I be expecting later on?
  12. I did think that at the time - maybe there was an error on the system. It was extremely turbulent. I definitely remember it showing 1000+ mph groundspeed.
  13. Is that it!? Flying back from DFW last year our G/S going through the jet was around 1,300mph!
  14. So, what do you think the max temp will be? Around the 90F mark? Maybe slightly higher?
  15. So temperature wise, how hot is it going to get? Obviously depends how far south the cold front stalls at. I'd probably expect to maybe hit the 90F mark, but would you say the 95F predicted by the Express is completely out of the question? Having just had a look at Peter Gibbs' forecast on the Beeb website, do I forsee another El Gordo breakdown at the end of the week?
  16. Any ideas on the magnitude of the tornadoes yesterday - the Sleaford tornado looked fairly strong, exceptionally strong for the UK. Any idea of the length of time each tornado was on the ground? Any further info?
  17. Did it hit a lamp-post or something? That could've killed at least a couple of people.
  18. The thing is though - what do you expect Joe Public to do? I went to Atlanta last year during the horrendous tornado outbreak across the Deep South - had to ask an American friend, what the hell do you do if a tornado warning is issued. Luckily nothing serious materialised in my area apart from a few severe thunderstorms, however locations I travelled to the next day certainly did. We, rightly, aren't prepared for such an occurance. Today was probably a Q50 event.
  19. This has probably been posted already... How close is that?!?!
  20. Its been mentioned several times on this thread today - why wasn't there more warning from the BBC/Met Office of such extreme weather. The ingredients were there - yet there wasn't one mention of the word 'tornado' in any TV forecast. Now I understand you don't want to scare the public, but you should really be upfront with this sort of thing, no? If this was the USA, there would be wall-to-wall coverage - Dr Forbes would be handing out TORCON indices like confetti. Is there even any sort of protocol for a "tornado warning" rather than just a watch in the UK?
