  1. You can see quite a pronounced pivot there around early Saturday - more snow for this area!
  2. Some major ramping going on at the Model Thread for the 10-15 day period! Cant help thinking this could be one of the worst periods of severe winter weather in yonks.
  3. Alex Dolan says UP TO 10cm of snow Friday/Saturday. Still think that's very conservative. Showed snow on Fri, Sat and Mon on the Look East 5 day forecast. Edit: Just clocked that ECM run above, wowsa, that would be something special!
  4. Tempting fate here - nothing can go wrong can it? 100% chance of significant snow. I dare say the snowfall totals have been underestimated somewhat. Easily 10-15cm in this region, surely?
  5. Wowsa. Ramp ramp ramp on Carol K's early morning forecast. Widespread heavy snow. Detail still patchy but the Midlands should get 15-20cm. The front needs to track slightly more Eastwards for our region to be in the sweetest of sweet spots.
  6. The BBC forecasters have been "on" Friday's event since this time yesterday. Rarity, obviously they know something's up.
  7. Fair enough. Obviously being Ultra FI I'd expect huge changes, but there have been some extraordinary model runs in the last few days.
  8. The GFS now predicting around 13cm of snow as it stands for my area, starting Friday afternoon continuing overnight. Looking ahead to Sunday, its also predicting early morning lows of -12.
  9. Just seen a chart on the Model thread from NOAA. Parts of the Midlands set to get 40cm (yes FOURTY) of snow at the end of the month, with our region to get mid-20s cm.T360. Immediately a chart for the bin, but amazing to see something like that. That would be a national emergency.
  10. That immediately sprung to mind. Look East have been traditionally extra cautious with their forecasts, but jumping straight to Friday surprised me. Looking at the charts, there could easily be 6-8 inches in many areas. Still T96.
  11. Re: the end of the week - how much of an impact would that front have on the SE/EA (areas that had the snow today)
  12. Looking ahead - the high is absolutely immense. The Atlantic systems are drifting into a brick wall. For me, today is just the starter with the main course being served at the end of the week. Widely 6, possibly 8 inches of snow. The model thread is looking a lot more positive and interesting reading the last day or so.
  13. Got to say the council have done an excellent job with the gritting around here. All the roads around the airport well clear apart from the obvious side roads.
  14. Snow cleared around 90 mins ago now. Beautiful evening when the front cleared. About 4-5cm of snow altogether.
  15. Light snow falling here. Glad to see the snow line has regressed further south. The wintry mix looks more like snow. Expecting around 2-3 inches over the next 12 hours Weve already had a covering on untreated surfaces. The system looks like its going to swing around again for tonight. Will be interested to see after today which model was the most reliable.
  16. Had enough model watching for one day! Good night - I look forward to a challenging walk to work tomorrow morning at 7.30!
  17. Just watching "The Day After Tomorrow" on E4 - hopefully this isn't an omen after seeing THAT run earlier today.
  18. Well according to the latest radar, the precip is around Bletchey. Just checked out the BBC weather website; it says we're not expecting light snow until 5am. Can't see this front dying out at all either.
