  1. I agree. Just a large column of air. I gather UK airports (some of which were in the firing line of this storm) don't have microburst detectors as some locations do in the US?
  2. For goodness sake - we have 1906j/kg of CAPE, apparently and an 82% chance of a storm; yet nothing!! Storm shield firmly in place!
  3. Doesn't anyone have any pictoral evidence of these tornadoes yet?! Anything remotely storm-ish for the home counties this afternoon?
  4. Increasing levels of cloud cover here not far from LTN. Around 5-6 oktas. Still extremely humid. Don't think it'll be too long before lift off here.
  5. So are the Met Office going to bother releasing any sort of warning for this severe weather? Dangerous situation up in Notts/Lincs?
  6. Just got into my home in Beds - absolutely nothing here so far! Clouds are quickly bubbling up it looks like. The humidity is sky high - feels almost Florida-esqe. Just keeping my eye on that storm in Lincs/Notts - I have family in Newark.
  7. Surely Joe Public should be made aware of this? They seem pretty confident that there will be one at least somewhere.
  8. Looks like Ludlow is getting an absolute battering at the moment.
  9. Don't understand why Carol K (or any other forecaster) never mentions the "T-word" as well as the t-storms and large hail. In the US they're more upfront about it, even if its just a low chance. I suppose people in this country would just panic.
  10. Just checked weather.com - apparently 92% and 20C at the moment. That is very high. Should hover around the 78-80% mark all day.
  11. Its been mentioned already the confusion between forecasts/models. One forecast is telling me direct hit here in Bedfordshire and another no where near! Actually both forecasts are BBC forecasts! Carol K predicting SEVERE t-storms for the North.
  12. I gather than ESTOFEX L2 warning was forecasted over the SE a few days ago! Moisture pooling and diurnal heating will result in CAPE around 2000 J/kg given the elevated mixed layer spreading northward. Additionally, strong vertical wind shear will be in place. Favorably veering profiles and rather isolated convection in the afternoon hours pose a threat of supercells capable of producing large or very large hail and maybe a tornado.
  13. Been out all day and can't be bothered to trawl through many pages of posts - upgrade or downgrade for the East Midlands? Just had a look on BBC Weather - looks significantly different as it was this morning.
  14. Regularly have a look at the weather in the destinations I've been to in the USA. Just had a look at PHX - this week, they reckon locally it will get up to 115F. That is incredible heat! This morning it was 90F at 1am! Meanwhile in Death Valley it is close to 50C.
  15. She certainly has. Just seen the BBC Breakfast forecast - it certainly looks a H word here in the South Midlands tomorrow late morning.
  16. This can't be right surely? Thursday 1900 - 2,352j/kg of CAPE in London.
  17. Not UK, but a proper storm in Donetsk! Wasn't much on the Estofex forecast.
  18. Good morning all. Aviation forecast for my location... EGGW 150502Z 1506/1606 14002KT 3000 BR BKN006 BECMG 1506/1508 20012KT 9999 NSW SCT025 TEMPO 1506/1521 6000 SHRA PROB30 TEMPO 1508/1520 21016G26KT 4000 +SHRA TSGR Scattered cloud between 0700-0900 - no significant weather. Heavy and thundery downpours with hail forecasted between 0900 and 2100 - moderate chance. Showers all day. Small chance of a tornado somewhere?
