  1. Well if I ever had to do a forecast for the next few weeks this would b it, talk about sitting on the fence and giving every weather type a mention lol. That is not as good as it was a few days ago for the potential of heavy snow but let's c if we can get the cold in first and then c if any surprises turn up.

haven't been in the mad thread today - anything from Mr Murr? still not sure anything's nailed down yet - look around 96 - 144 a high which will cool us anyway and the model doesn't really know what to do with it, it'll be how that positions itself slightly further down the line as to what happens next, still got the feeling we are gonna get clobbered - met office haven't changed there outlook today - so they must be seeing something too

Outlook for the UK over the next 6-30 days

UK Outlook for Tuesday 20 Feb 2018 to Thursday 1 Mar 2018:

Dry, but often bright weather will dominate across the UK throughout next week, with overnight frosts becoming widespread. However, outbreaks of rain or drizzle along with some hill snow and stronger winds are possible at times across northwestern areas. Temperatures will be around average for the time of year to begin. However, it will turn much colder by the end of the week and into the following week, as the wind tends to turn east or southeasterly in direction. Wintry showers may develop, with the potential for some significant snowfalls focused on southern, central or eastern areas. The location and intensity of any snowfall will be uncertain until much nearer the time. However, some milder unsettled weather still may occur at times, especially in the west.

UK Outlook for Friday 2 Mar 2018 to Friday 16 Mar 2018:

In first week of March, it is likely to stay cold with widespread overnight frost. There will be a greater chance than usual of easterly winds developing, which would bring very cold weather at times and the potential for some snowfall in eastern and even southern parts.

They r just going off wot the models r saying out in la la land but I guarantee that will change in a few days

ok your on - we'll shake on it - that later this month we are gonna get very very cold and then cop it from an easterly starting off around 20th (uppers not there then) but getting colder and colder from then on in and then into march

No the deal is snowmageddon on the 25th like the chart says ??

GFS 6z - once again a wonder to behold

right out in FI but OMG - it'll be a waiting game this one - but the easterly is getting closer from the initial high pressure - just sets the scene and then draws us closer and closer to the prize - i'm convinced this is gonna happen - it maybe far away now - but my gut feeling is telling me we got this one

11 days away m8 no chance of that verifying

Latest ECM and GFS have 22nd as the date for huge potential there on in

Tbh I think it will b the same story as it's been all winter for us low lying areas, promise a snowy nirvana and deliver a cold water nirvana. It won't b very often u hear me say this but I hope it doesn't happen I'm ready for spring now

No fair enough. Those wind speeds there in that forecast do not warrant a warning. I think it’s because of the potential for some small low pressures to form in the flow which would increase precip and wind speed. The warning text 60mph quite widely so they must see a little more than the computer generated forecast says. It is only a “be aware” at the end of the day. Could be a lot of rain in small time scale.

    Lets see anyway.

Personally I think they need to change this warning system, it should b yellow as advisory and then Amber and red as warning. If I c a warning notice, to me that says stay away (substation for example) danger to life, but a yellow warning as far as I can c is joke lately cos they just send them out for anything

    For rain not snow!

Ye I know m8 and for wind but u tell me how these windspeeds on the coast warrant a weather warning?? We have these speeds in summer and no weather warnings r in place. Look how much rain is forecast for my area as well and again doesn't warrant a warning. Like I said a few pages ago the meto seem to like the limelight a lot lately

Thank's @andymusic let's do hope so as i am fed up with winter so far ' we get close to an event and it just turns out to be rain .

Really tired of these westerlies ' been great for ireland and scotland but for our region especially down here its just been dull and yuk .

Get used to the dull and yuk cos that's all I c for the rest of this week and maybe a few snow flurries which will still make dull and yuk not a wintry nivarna

don't think this cold is gonna let up until way into March - so if you want spring warmth - fly south - and besides cold rain - there'll be more snow incoming shortly I've no doubt

Cold and snow is what I want but dry cold would b just as Good or even dry for that matter. This rubbish we've been having lately is really starting to grip my sh## cos every weekend its raining

The MetO guys are dammed if they do dammed if they don't . There is a chance of snow showers tomorrow morning and one or two could be heavy. So I would suggest that they are perfectly correct to warn of the possibility and remember on the web site warning there will be a probability matrix to try and qualify the threat.

Would I be right in thinking that you have been less than impressed with the results in your location for previous warnings? I hope you have better luck this time. :)

Ye I've been less than impressed but not just the snow warnings even the wind and rain warnings have not even warranted being a warning. I think they just like being in the headlines of the news etc

    oooooooooh yer we go lol

Yellow Warning of Snow and Ice for Wales : Conwy, Denbighshire, Flintshire, Wrexham, Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Gwynedd, Monmouthshire, Powys, Pembrokeshire, Blaenau Gwent, Caerphilly, Merthyr Tydfil, Rhonnda Cynon Taff, Torfaen, Bridgend, Neath Port Talbot, Newport, Swansea, Cardiff, Vale of Glamorgan & Isle of Anglesey valid from 0005 Fri 09 Feb to 1200 Fri 09 Feb

Tbh I take these with a pinch of salt lately, we've had more warnings this winter than we have in the previous 10 winters and not once has the warning been worth it. These days a bit of wind, rain, snow flurry or frost and it's warning central!! I do think sometimes has forecasting actually advanced in the last 15 years
