No doubt there will be some surprises. They're not sure enough to issue an amber weather warning so who knows what's going to happen.
The system moves through to quick to issue an amber warning, even where it stalls and pivots the precipitation prob won't b heavy enough for long enough. Let's just hope surprises show up

That's not going any further than South of the Midlands. I can see that pivoting and stalling over East Wales and maybe further west.
I think we'll just miss out and it will hit Central England, if it keeps the heavy precipitation someone could b in for a surprise where it does

Harmonie 6z has the low pivoting further east around Central England

Looks like there is a high chance of rain near the coasts judging by that forecast, hopefully the system comes in a bit earlier than forecast and temps are slightly lower giving everyone a chance

Yes id say so, I just come across this from the Met Office note the "Uncertain north and east extent"
Looks like snow to start and then it turns to rain for pretty much everyone apart from the beacons according to that

Beautiful crisp frosty morning here, let's hope it stays dry and sunny all day

Majority of the charts are going for snow on Sunday morning.
The majority of charts have also said we were going to be in a winter wonderland for the last 3 weeks

What's your thoughts on Sunday? GFS has been showing snow consistently.
With lows of 2c forecast at the coldest time of the morning, if anything falls out of the sky it will more than likely b rain

There's still snow being shown on the GFS for the early hours of Sunday morning. Potential for up to 6 hours of quite heavy snow.
The way this winter has been and going, expect 6 hours of heavy rain

I must admit I’m getting really ****** off and frustrated with how much ‘Northern England and the Midlands’ is being mentioned for threat of rain and flooding when it’s blatantly obvious that Wales will bare the brunt of the rainfall and see huge flooding problems.
Never have I felt Wales’ irrelevance more apparent on this forum and by the MET than this year! It’s an absolute disgrace!
Going to buy a dinghey and listen to the Treorchy Male Voice Choir to cheer me up!
I wouldn't have said we're going to bare the brunt of it looking at the radar?

The way this winter is going I can c nothing but rain for us, I think we'll b on the wrong side of the cold air, I'm wrong but so far its been disappointing for us

Fascinating today, we've got highs of 9 or 10c with rain and about 150 miles away they have highs of 1c and heavy snow.

Looking good
UK long range weather forecast
Sunday 17 Jan - Tuesday 26 Jan
Settled conditions for most on Sunday, however light rain may remain across the far east with blustery showers pushing across north and western parts at times. Into the next week unsettled conditions will continue with winds from the north bringing cold conditions from Scandinavia across much of the country by the end of the week. Rainfall is also expected for the north with a risk of organised snowfall especially over high ground. Drier in the south with the potential for frontal bands bringing rain and or snow at times. Temperatures most likely rather cold/cold for much of the UK, but a chance near or slightly above average in association with any rain that cross the south.

My feet are planted firmly on the floor and I won't start getting excited till the charts are showing within 36 hours, so much going on in the atmosphere at moment anything could happen and that also means mild wet windy weather

What a fantastic looking morning, like a winter wonderland, must have had some freezing fog at 1 point because everything is white out there this morning

I have got the app but never take notice of the precipitation anymore, none of them r any good but the best I find is xc weather but that has its moments as well. Its all live radar for me

That's not strictly true of the Met Office to be fair they haven't made much of this snow at all in forecast and the warning for most of Wales away from high ground was for ice, so I think the metoffice were pretty close to the mark. Agree with the BBC still indicating snow moving south.
It's currently snizzling here but nothing more than that.
Totally agree with u I think meto have been spot on for wales, if u also read the matrix on the warnings that came out they were all unlikely or low impact which has been right. What I will say about this cold spell tho is it came in like a lamb, left like a lamb and didn't change in the middle either lol. We had a few clear days which was excellent but most of it has been grey skies and temps around 3-4c so tbh I'm glad to c the back of it and hope for something better further on down the line
