Morning all of you lovely people! It's been very quiet lately, not sure I have ever seen the threads so quiet! Anyway, at least this weekend we have a few weather events worthy of discussion! at last! LOL Yesterday was stunning! Went for a walk in Burnham Beeches and it really did feel like spring had sprung... Some pics below (a bit boring I know, photography is certainly not my bag)...... We saw hundreds of frogs mating which was a sight, and the noise they were making was incredible, something I have never witnessed before! Take a look at the picture below....see anything unusual?..... .........look closer...... ........a turtle / terrapin! .. It even had a small baby with it! Astonishing!.... Now to more weather related things! As @Surrey has mentioned above, certainly some wild weather going to affect the region over the next few days (hopefully my pond will fill up!). Also a chance of some convective showers with the region under an unstable air mass, and even a storm or two not out of the question! CAPE values low to mid 100's, negative lifted index along with diurnal heating should help to create some interest! As usual Lincoln seems to be the hotpot! What is it with Lincoln, do they not know that it's important to have a storm shield! Storms are dangerous! May see if they want to borrow mine until next Autumn?! LOL! Enough from me, have a wonderful weekend all!

Google Maps - Weather photos. What's your best?

@Surrey @MP-R @TheBigFreeze @Clair_Witch I know this isn't cloud related, however, look what I discovered whilst in google maps....... . See anything unusual? Now that's cool!! I wonder how many aeroplanes like these are on google maps? Also, apologies for quoting you all, just thought this may get missed if I didn't as the thread is a little quiet! Have a nice weekend all! -
No it didn't take long @Surrey, seems this chart was pretty accurate! Maybe we can get some excitement from a hail storm or two later on seeing that the snow chances are diminishing fast! uppers have been moderated somewhat in the overnight runs! If we cant have snow, lets have thunder instead!......or both preferably! Have a good day!

Which one will be correct........ Arome ...... Arpege ....... or..... Hirlam Hirlam is definitely more bullish with regard to some snow in our Region. Charts below for reference. As @crazysnowcatz4 mentions, more than one opportunity for some in the region to at least experience something wintry from tomorrow through until Sunday. Therefore, Winter Weather Gods, please deliver to the poor snow starved people of the SE, just a few flakes, doesn't have to settle, just be seen falling will do, then do one! and let Spring commence....or has Autumn just finished and Winter is beginning?! I'm confused. Have a great afternoon all!

@seaside 60 The charts in FI are certainly raising a few eyebrows and so they should be! We all know the risks of hanging any hopes on synoptics being predicted this far out, however, with a Jet stream profile like this, High Pressure to the West, stretching North to Greenland with Low Pressure to the South East can only be a positive for cold weather enthusiasts! This would allow Low Pressure systems to run on a S/SE tragectory, barrelling into the UK. If, and a big if we can get some sustained low 850's intrenched across our little Island then things could get interesting. Just when all are trying to forget Winter and are looking forward to some spring warmth it looks as though Autumn is just finishing and Winter arriving?! If these synoptics were to verify I would think it would have a pretty devastating affect to wildlife and anyone that relies on spring warmth to grow crops / food futures for the coming year? We watch with interest!

Hi @philmd5 These charts have recently updated, therefore, if we look at the 06z for 02/03 @ 03.00 we can see that..... The T850's temps are OK...... . The region bathed in sub 528 air which helps...... . Surface temps are marginal at best for snow to settle.... However, there is a risk shown that would transfer towards our region by 0.600 I think at best it would be a rain to snow event as seen below, however, very marginal..... Most likely will fall as rain, however, where there is a risk there is always hope and as always with the Great British weather some may get a surprise, just when they weren't expecting it !? The biggest problem is that the air is sourced from the North West, which is not great for our region as it's track allows the colder air to be modified / mixed out. Anyway, for now, this event is still in FI and we could see upgrades aswell as downgrades over the next few days, so certainly one to keep an eye on and provide something of interest to discuss. Have a good day.

@Surrey Did Health and Safety not teach you how to lift properly .......I think it's knees bent, back straight, ouch, sh*t! Ah, so maybe they did teach you, well done seems you did everything correct LOL Hope it isnt too sore? Looks like it's the ministry of funny walks over the next few days for you! Have a good day!

Good morning everybody! And the Weather Forecast for this weekend........ A dry, but chilly day on Saturday ........same on Sunday with a risk of a gap forming at 5pm. This risk will be closely monitored throughout the weekend and warnings will be issued as and when confidence in this event increases. People should not be concerned at this stage, however, please keep upto date with the forecast over the next 24 hrs ........LOL Joking aside, it's a beautiful sunny morning! Not sure how long that will last as there does seem to be a lot of cloud blanketing the region, let's just hope it's very thin and patchy? Have a lovely day all and enjoy the sun if you have any?

What an unusual but brilliant idea @Surrey. In my line of work i use Google Maps most days, therefore, I will probably become a real pain in this thread! I will now be looking for interesting cloudscapes rather than doing what I am supposed to be doing.......because I never post / view the forum when at work....not! I would hope to make some additions in the next day or so....If I see anything interesting that is? Have a good evening! -
Good morning everyone. Another gloomy, blustery morning, however,at least it looks to be largely staying dry for most! Aren't we spoilt! Current data certainly looks to favour getting progressively colder as the week progresses with -7 850's covering the region, by Thursday, bathed in 526 Dam air, with low daytime / night time temperatures predicted. Charts below for reference. It will be largely dry with the UK sat under high pressure, therefore, snow risk is muted or indeed non existent.....However, come Saturday / Sunday an area of low pressure nudges into the South of the Region which would seem to pose a threat of snow. This threat is currently showing to last for 48 hrs! This is still a long way off, therefore, cannot be taken as gospel, however, for now something to keep an eye on over the next few days to see whether we get upgrades or indeed downgrades.....It certainly keeps things interesting if nothing else! Have a lovely Sunday all!

Yes @Daniel* i was juts looking at that.....taking the Arpege model it seems very marginal, as usual! T850's not brilliant, but just might do ...............Dew points are positive........ Obviously precipitation intensity could help these to drop further during the event? However, it is showing a risk through the M4 corridor on Tuesday morning....its possible that the models that @fergieweather has the privelige of seeing are predicting a less marginal event?......Plenty of runs between now and Tuesday morning for upgrades / downgrades, therefore, it will be interesting to see how this unfolds? Being a complete novice, i do appreciate the insight that Ian provides and think that Netweather are priveliged to have him posting as often as he does, long may it continue! Have a good day!
