  1. Lets wait until the models get to at least day 4, before saying it's a bad run :nonono: !

And at 6hrs I didn't really expect massive changes but tomorrow at 6hrs things could be very different especially when there's troughs and occluded fronts floating around.

I'm pretty sure it was a joke, there is never ever going to massive changes at 6 hours...

  2. Trend from 12z op runs is for this to be a cold snap as opposed to a cold spell. The easterly which was keenly modelled yesterday and this morning is now fast becoming a distant dream. I know this will not be a popular post but these are the trends I am seeing this evening.

Paul Hudson has just mentioned an Easterly by mid week. It may not last long, but it's certainly not a 'distant dream' as it's showing on all models

    last post until 2pm

  3. but -4 doesn't really cut it for snowfall. Need at least -5 at the bare minimum. Think for low lying areas we could see a messy mix of sleet and rain. But areas such as holmfirth snake pass high bradfield yeadon should do well. But rest of us low lying I fear for if your expecting deep crisp and even.

We only had -4/5 uppers on boxing day, and predominately we have -6 uppers next week, so I very much doubt it will be sleet/rain. Uppers are not everything anyway, as Ian F has mentioned on the mod thread. It's possible to get snow with -1/-2 uppers.

  4. If you live in the North a week of cold and snow is pretty much guaranteed, with -4 uppers at worst. For the south it's more uncertain in terms of snow, but I would bet a lot of money that you will get snow at some point in the next 7 days. On boxing day here we only had -4/5 uppers in a NW flow, and it rained for hours before that but we still got a good 5cm of snow with Sheffield getting 15cms. No reason to be negative even if you live in the south, unless your looking for severe cold with massive blizzards.

  5. Not sure about our chances just yet. Lon way to go. Looks like there is a milder sector showing up on the latest gfs run. Which could spell trouble should it verify. But here's hopeing to some snowfall. But until we see it at t06 I will remain cautious.

Not for our region, we have at least -4 uppers for the next 10 days.

    '

    Outlook for Friday to Sunday:

Cold with clear or sunny spells and wintry showers, heaviest and most frequent north and west. Winds easing. Risk of persistent rain or snow in south later Saturday into Sunday.'

  7. crap all in Sheffield. Been clear as a bell all night so far. Very cold though. Shame. Loads of showers to the north and south of the city all night. Leeds looks to have had showers most of the evening :)

it's not been that great in west yorkshire either to be honest, well not where I am anyway

plenty more to come in the coming days though :D
