    This is looking more likely to my untrained eyes! We were sitting 15ish early November of 2010, and remember what happened that year....

    Well, I guess it is time I do one of my comparison posts. This is the current picture. If we compare to the bellweather that is 2010 I'm going to go out on a limb and suggest that is the closest ice cover match we have had in the last 10 years I have been doing these comparisons. The snow being so much further south is also of note. If we take the same shot from 12 months ago it is certainly interesting that while a lot of excitement was generated by the amount of snow it was almost exclusively heavier in the east of the continent.

    Woke up this morning, went for a shower and felt the cold in the house for the first time this year. Realised it was high time to break my summer fast and return to NW!

    Going to be very marginal for this, I reckon east of Medway is the sweet spot.

    I am quietly looking at the possibility of a real old fashioned convective streamer picking up for my bit of North Kent. Normally such things are entirely wishful thinking but in this case it is actually possible...

    Im shocked by the new yellow warning for overnight. Can this winter reward us all for our patience with a covering? The set up is not unlike something that could develop into a streamer...

    Snow fell in Medway. I have seen a flake. Winter complete.

    For once Medway looks to be in the right spot for this according to the GFS currently running off. Very interested to see the 12z later on today though

    Seems like models are going for a very unusually cold end to March... It will be of note if this comes off as an outlier.

    Totally how I feel about this winter. I am a winterposter on here, only really post from mid Nov through to spring, this year I have barely posted, it has just been so quiet!
