  1. Nice to see some more positivity in here after a few days of miserable looking models. Still way off in FI but nice to see some options for cold and snow.
  2. In the 80's? I think you forget quite how much terrible music came out in the 1980's...
  3. This has been popping up since it was day 10… This is looking more and more likely by the run now. I think a decent part of the country is going to be pleasantly surprised Monday
  4. It is of note that what was day 7 on Monday for early next week into midweek is still showing up in the runs as we hit 2 days out. I am starting to think that some decent snowfall is in the offing for early next week for swathes of the country.
  5. Serious ice on the car this morning. There still seems to be something in the models for SE including Kent as we go into next week..
  6. Strood being close enough to me for us to get similar effects if the easterlies do kick in.
  7. Some toys already being thrown. We are in the cold, there is a decent chance of widespread snow across parts of the country (south coast, SE and SW, midlands and Scotland) yet people are complaining! Sadly as with all snow/cold events the IMBY takes over and unless people are forecast blizzards in their own garden its a nothing for them.
  8. I certainly think the south coast, running all the way from West to East has a good chance next week. But agreed, for widespread we need the easterlies to kick in.
  9. The GFS being completely wrong and having to climb down? Wonders will never cease...!
  10. Id forgotten about that, I remember I worked in East Sussex and drove from Medway every day, nothing in Medway at all but by time I got round the M25 work rang and said it was so deep they closed the office. Drove home and had a snow day, with no snow!
  11. She's a beauty for Kent folk like me. I am trying to avoid the models till Fri eve/Sat now as that is when we will get some clarity.
  12. The GFS has over the past few years been completely wrong multiple times in winter. It’s a bit like a dog with a bone, once it’s got hold of it sometimes it refuses to let go.
  13. A lot of the wise old posters in the mod thread have seen it all before, so often snow in the UK is a case of nowcasting not forecasting. If NW had a motto in the winter it would be 'get the cold in first' which we are about to have in spades. Once that is set up everything is to play for.
  14. Gutted to see all of you in the west feeling deflated, can’t wait for us in the eastern counties though
  15. True, but we are getting dangerously close to now casting territory for this event, in all the years I’ve been on here the one lesson that’s stuck is that once the cold is in and established (which I am positive we are heading into now) the models become more unreliable than ever, things change at the drop of a hat
  16. With a pool of warmish water to our east those of us on the coast could still see some real run and games
  17. Prolonged cold with warm seas… I can’t be the only one who is really starting to see the potential for something quite special here…
  18. I have rarely seen the number of confused people on the mod thread. Normally between the pros and the talented amateurs we would have a fairly locked in idea of what is about to happen for the next 7 days, the models are not playing ball at the moment though and it is so up in the air. The cold certainly looks like it will be prolonged.
