Getting a bit heavier now. Flakes becoming a bit bigger

Snow started about 5 minutes ago. Getting slightly heavier although the flakes are quite small - its like someone with bad dandruff rubbing their hair. It is nice to see despite how small the flakes are that it is starting to lie. Amazing that this time yesterday the forecast was for it to be sunny this afternoon. Just shows how features like this can pop up at short notice in cold spells. This also must be one of the least marginal snow events for a while for most of us on low ground

A min of -4.7C last night. Right now it's -0.8C/-3.0C cloudy but still dry. It looks like the snow will get here and with that temperature/dew point not even Grangemouth would miss out on snow lying

Surprisingly the temperature has been going up and down like a yoyo since the sun went down. Had a max of 3.8C and from that at half 3 until 7pm it seemed to go down by 0.6C then up by 0.3C until it got to -0.4C. Then it went back up to 0.9C by 8pm, which I think was due to the breeze picking up, and stayed about that for 45 minutes, then dropped to -0.9C by 10pm. But now its risen back up again to 0.0C

No snow lying but has turned icy. Min was -0.6C though it had risen to 0.0C when I woke up at 6.25. But was heading down again when I left at 7.15

Does anyone remember, I think it was December 2009 when a little band of snow moved northeast out into the North Sea and everyone went to bed thinking that was it, then woke up in the morning to find the snow had actually moved back southwest during the night and intensified to give heavy snow which lasted until lunchtime the following day. That was the most enjoyable surprise snowfall I've ever had. If only that happened tonight.

Was about to go to my bed and finally, its started snowing lightly. Temperature at 1.2/-1/2C. Doubt it will last long but nice to look at I suppose

Christopher Blanchett on Reporting Scotland admitted that the precipitation had got further north and east than expected. But like someone else said, he did say that as it comes back south it could get as far west as south Lanarkshire so despite everything being as rain here so far, there I still some hope because the temp is beginning to drop. Now it's 1.1C/-0.5C here.

Started raining very lightly in Edinburgh at about half 4. Now back in Grangemouth and its a little heavier but still rain with a Temp of 1.7C and a dew point of -0.2C

The BBC forecasts certainly looked as if this afternoon there would be some showery rain with maybe some sleet before turning to snow this evening as colder air moved in. Not surprised that it's mostly rain just now. Although I am surprised how far north the rain has got at this time

Just watched the weather forecast on the BBC news channel and Philip Avery saying there could be some significant snow for the central belt overnight tomorrow night as a weather front comes in from the west but he did say there was a lot of uncertainty and by the look of his map, the central belt is as far north as it gets before it slips south. Something to watch

That last shower about 15 mins ago was very heavy with hail stones. Temperature dropped very quickly with it too, was 4.7C, now its 2.8C with the dew point at 0.0C

It was 11.9C at about 5pm yesterday and overnight it rose to 13.9C here. Currently 13.6C. This would be a warm night in July never mind December

Heavy sleet in Edinburgh at Kings Buildings. Temp is 2.7C according to the uni weather station

Been rain from the start here. Got down to 0.2C overnight. Set my alarm for half 6 to see what was falling. At that time it was 1.8/-0.8C but it was light rain. Been raining lightly ever since. Temp got up to 3.8C but has actually went down in the last hour back to 3.0C. Was supposed to be getting close to 11 or 12C by now.

Well the Temp has fallen to 1.4C now with a DP of -2.6C and outside looks a bit icier now. The breeze gas finally died. Still doubt there'll be any snow here

Still only fell to 2.6C here. Considering it was below 4C at 4pm it's not dropped as much as expected. Seems to be a breeze which is keeping the Temp up here. DP is -1.5C though. But the Temp is going to have to drop very fast over the next few hours for there to be any chance of snow here because the Temp will rise as it clouds over before the rain/snow arrives. Max was 4.1C here today. Similar to the 4.2C of yesterday. Got down to 1.5C last night. Showers were mostly of rain and sleet

The showers have all been of rain or sleet over the last few hours but the last one which finished half an hour ago turned to wet snow for a little bit. As the skies have cleared, the temp has now dropped to 1.3/-1.2C so hopefully the next shower will be of snow from the off and the temp doesn't rise too much as the cloud builds in ahead of it

15/20 mins ago it was calm with rain here at 3.0/2.5C Now its wet snow at 1.7/0.2C

All of a sudden the wind has picked up and it turned to hail stones and a little bit of snow and the temperature was at 3.0/2.5C. That was 5 minutes ago, now its dropped back to 2.7/1.4C and still hail

Temprefusing to go below 2.7C and the dew point refusing to go below 1.5C so looks like I'll have to put up with rain for a little bit longer

Temperature has fluctuated between 2.7C and 3.1C for the last couple of hours. The dew point went high which tuned any little sleety bits back to complete rain. But the dew point has started going down in the last 10 minutes and the temp has went from 3.1C to 2.9C in the last 5 minutes. Went extremely dark there, but the cloud look whiter to the north and west and I have noticed in the last half an hour that the rain coming down is blowing in from the north unlike earlier on, so may not be rain for too much longer here. Actually, looking at the radar, the main band doesn't look as if it has much more time here as it moves northeast

Temperature currently 2.9C/0.8C. Was supposed to be above that at this time so perhaps the colder air is coming in a bit quicker than expected? Rain has just started to turn a bit sleety too
