  1. Fell to -1.7C by 11pm last night then rose. It was 4.8C cloudy and dry when I left the house at 8.15 this morning. Yesterday was dry and sunny with a Max of 5.5C
  2. Friday Night Minimum Temperature: 0.6C Saturday Maximum Temperature: 2.9C Current Pressure: 1011.0mb Last 24 Hours Precipitation: 0.9mm Been cloudy with light rain on and off so far tonight
  3. Might remember that last winter I was complaining that my weather station wasn't recording the temperature properly during the day. Well I finally found a place in my garden where it doesn't have too much of an effect. Each night I give my weather stats for the previous night and that day, and also give a weather forecast for Grangemouth for that night, the following day and an outlook for further ahead on a twitter page @as_weather for anyone who's interested. The coldest night of the autumn before tonight was 1.8C so I've already beaten that tonight. I'll try and put my stats on here each night too if I can remember. Wind has picked up and now up to 3.0C Thursday Night Minimum Temperature: 5.1C Friday Maximum Temperature: 6.2C Current Pressure: 1008.0mb Last 24 Hours Rainfall: 2.1mm
  4. It has turned more sleety in the last 15 minutes. Temperature now 1.4C. Amazing how it can be snowing at 2.5C but then half an hour later its sleet at 1.4C
  5. Well, well, snow has started getting a little heavier and the temperature has dropped to 1.9C. Dew point up to -1.9C. Not going to lie and didn't expect it to
  6. Light snow. Temperature has stayed at 2.5C but the dew point has quickly risen to -2.6C. I think it may be the rising dew points which eventually turn this to sleet here. Don't think the snow will lie as it is
  7. Been clear and the temperature dropped to a low of 1.4C about half an hour ago but as it has clouded over, the temperature has risen quickly to 2.5C now. The dew point has remained constant at -3.8C though, so still a chance of snow
  8. It's currently wet and 3.9C. Wasn't expecting it to get so cold underneath this rain
  9. That is by far the loudest boom of thunder I have ever heard. Had to shut my window
  10. Just had the third flash of lightning, and second boom of thunder and everyone has been brighter/louder than the last
  11. Had torrential rain about 25 minutes ago. Now in the last 5 minutes there's been 2 flashes of lightning and one distant rumble of thunder
  12. Some torrential rain in the last 10 minutes. Quite windy
  13. Been raining for a while now. That was more than I was expecting. Was trying to upload a video of the storm but it's not working
  14. Lightning going on here now too. Seen one big flash across the sky with a lot of frequent small ones as well. Light rain coming on for about 10 seconds at a time before going off again. Would be good if we can get thunder and lightning with that cluster of heavy rain,
  15. Yes, just noticed on the radar that there is extra oomph in those showers compared to anything we have seen pushing up from the south all day. That along with the fact that some in Edinburgh and East Lothian have seen lightning in the last hour bodes well for about an hours time. Maybe we will get some thunderstorms at last.
  16. Just had football training in Stirling. Cloudy with showers. I've seen 4 showers since about 3.30pm and everyone of them has been a little bit heavier than the previous one but no sign of any thunder or lightning. Temperature is now down to 16.9C which is a bit below what it was forecast to be at this time. Whilst training and then driving home, I was looking about and the skies were very dark but with some small orange/yellow areas that you see when a thunderstorm has just passes, it was misty, the roads were completely soaking and it felt humid. If I had slept all day and just woke up now and looked outside you would think there had been a thunderstorm. But there hasn't. And I think the reason for it is the same reason why it usually doesn't happen in this country. Too much cloud cover throughout the day not letting the convection get underway. Seems to be more showers coming up from the south but they look like they are weakening to it seens as if the rest of the night will be light rain showers, which is actually what the BBC weather website symbols have been showing consistently for tonight for the last 48 hours
  17. According to my weather station, its 23.6C here. That should be accurate as the sun hasn't shined on it for along time and it's actually risen a small amount in the last 5 minutes. That shower did fragment a little and pass to the east of here. The cloud looks thicker and more uniform now than it did earlier on. To be fair, the lunchtime news did have this afternoon being cloudy with some light showers pushing up from the south before things kick off after tea time. I hope its right, even if it means I'm dodging the lightning at my football training. But in past experience, a sheet of extensive cloud and isn't a good signal for thunderstorms to follow
  18. Looks like a shower heading towards the central belt now. Could hit here in the next 15 minutes, maybe will just miss to the east. Not sure if its electrical though. Since my last post, the sun has come out twice for a few minutes but has stayed mainly cloudy. Edit: looks like that shower has weakened a bit since it passed over the southern uplands
  19. Almost completely overcast here now but still very warm. Got a bad feeling that this altostratus cloud cover could spoil the thunderstorm development later on.
  20. First day of pre-season football training tomorrow night at quarter past 7 in Stirling. Could be interesting
  21. Yellow warning of snow above 300m from tonight until tomorrow afternoon http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/public/weather/warnings/#?tab=warnings&map=Warnings&zoom=5&lon=-3.50&lat=55.50&fcTime=1430521200&regionName=ta
  22. -2.2C overnight in Grangemouth. Quite low for May. Sunny start but approaching Edinburgh and its much cloudier
  23. It's wet snow here and it's 10.8C Dew point was at -0.7C but just risen to 1.4C and it's back to rain. It was cloudy for about 15 minutes before and during the shower too so that temperature should be fairly accurate
  24. Low of 0.5c here. Clear, sunny start. Bands of wintry showers forecast from midday onwards though
  25. Temperature dropped from 11.2C to 4.8C in the last 20 minutes during a shower and still going down. Shower started off as hail and then turned to rain
