He was my father in this earthly play. There is no rhyme nor reason why some die so young .. while others wonder why at 95 they're still alive .. This was my dad ; your Fred . He is not dead, but like the sinner at Christ's side he's met his maker , and sighed his last breath on earth . .. bc

Just taking a proper look tonight and yes GW .. looks like an historic event in the making .. next 7 days look like an Arctic in a spin ! With Nares looking like it could reopen as well , it seems the Arctic ice is all headed for the Atlantic . brrr

I like useable weather .. and that's what we've got .. why not enjoy ?

Hi Big Lad .. I was impressed with Monaghan's snow .. still have a good view of the snow atop Sl. Beagh .. hope to race up in the morning before it.s all gone . Still driving over the remains of a drift every day as I go see my dad . Never had over a cm of lying snow here .. yet probably had a 20 fall last month

perfect weather for a great job .. dropping problem branches off trees @ the farm .. next years supplies of fuel grow and grow . Enjoy the glorious sunshine

back from Galway .. I was surprised to see the roads had been cleared by plough just a couple of miles away .. the roads here were never even white ! Rain on lower ground tonight .. sounds like me again . The only weather warning I have needed this winter is not to get my hopes up

Great day for a funeral .. service at 500 ft .. Cappagh ..just down the road from Pomeroy .. then to Donaghmore for burial . Terrific snow shower and wind during the service .. and sun shine at the grave . Home thru a blizzard .. and my world keeps turning green again .

my postcode on weather2 produces a forecast of snow from Wed 9am till Thu 3pm when it turns to sleet for a while . Pomeroy should be buried by Saturday ..

now all we need for a real winter is an outburst from Limavady

..today's frost seems to have caused more damage and hurt locally with accidents and falls than the whole last week of snow and ice . On my way to see my 95 year old dad (Fred) this afternoon (good choice of timing it turned out !) I saw pockets of snow on verges and fields above @100m and had a carlength where the road sides and centre still had last Friday's snow . I noticed someone had rolled a giant snowball in their garden .. it might still be there at Easter . Anyway .. as the ground is cold ice forms easily .. and as for 'bouncy' rural roads .. . Be safe And what's next ! Models getting tasty again , Knew I was splitting logs for a reason .. learnt the trick of packing them into a tyre and merrily splitting away .. . I've been enjoying a roaring fire every evening lately and have 3 months dry wood and a whole load moving in for a years drying .. much healthier than filling an oil tank .. Locally this winter is nearly as benign as last year .. in fact snowdrops are a few days ahead (I'm about to sell a few thousand ) and dandilions are flowering discreetly . .. and I've nearly let the fire go out .. keep up the good work/fun ? .. off to see if I've a shaft for my shovel ..
