  1. ..sorry 4 ..If you read my ps ...the on site graph looks quite different
  2. If any record on earth over the last 35 years suggests change , it is this one Last year I was amongst those celebrating the recovery of the polar ice . Today we are back in record low territory again Last year is beginning to look like the stark anomaly Grey Wolf predicted it would be ... ps .. go to source at Cryosphere today for accurate graph .. this one has been corrupted in transfer lol
  3. Ireland has been united on Netweather until now . Can we not keep it that way ? I live less than a mile from the border and would rather it stayed open !
  4. could the diversion of almost all the snow melt waters of western USA to satisfy this mad agricultural demand be a contributing factor to the drought ? Cold waters no longer flow into the ocean . Warm city waste water does. And the vast agricultural evaporation must also have an effect on climate .
  5. .. lol .. If you are the 'adult' I would be concerned for everyone's safety .
  6. Indeed .. a lovely day here too .. robins and song thrush singing , sun shining .. and a load of trees to plant !
  7. Thank goodness this thread has turned out so unnecessary !
  8. finally the weather has reached me .. my nearest hawthorn tree @ 20 yards away has lost it's main limb @5 ft off the ground ,perfectly blocking the lane. fortunately i made a bypass some years ago . a large part of next winters fuel sorted . wind now varying from calm to gale force+ every few minutes ... glad i don't live anywhere else ...
  9. Thanks for the education re the barrier .. seems more hope for the City than I thought .I know floods are affecting many beyond the Thames and it's tributaries but what is happening now in the region is hopefully a once in a lifetime experience and as the Thames spans more than one Netweather area I thought it a good idea to have a thread to cover everyone's thoughts and experience . And if you want to talk @ the problems and solutions to floods past or present in your area .. please share ....
  10. Norn' Ireland seems very popular with deep low centers this winter . Last weekend 950 mb here for the first time in my life . Main consequence has been lots of wind but locally not even a branch off a tree ! Still I am not envying anyone else their weather . ...
  11. well I've just launched my 1st thread .. on the Thames flood .. the weather this 'winter' has been so exciting ....
  12. We are in the early stages of a truly memorable flood of the whole Thames water system . All this water must pass the City of London . How this will be managed may become a major test of Britain in the 21st century . If millionaires houses are already being sacrificed there may be trouble ahead . 2003 was as nothing compared to the current saturated landscape with the potential for 'new' water sources appearing almost anywhere.. And then there is the barrier up,barrier down dilemma .Atlantic storms have been pushing high seas our way too.. Weeks of drama and trauma in the lives of many beginning to unfold .... A thread for all .
  13. Hard to believe but there hasn't been a severe gust of wind here all winter .. in the stormiest period I have ever seen . Visiting the west coast and seeing the changes wrought by wind and tides leaves me in awe of the power of nature . Stay safe where ever you are ...
  14. Netweather should sponsor a walk-in coldstore/chiller for all the coldies to go have a 'hit'. If we have to wait till next winter they will have melted away
  15. whee .. an hour of very very heavy snow after 30 days and 23 hours of extra autumn !
  16. just back from near Dungannon .. snow falling and lying and thawing all at the same time . Amazingly heavy snow near Dungannon .. now a sleety drizzle at home . Great fun driving on virgin snow with a slushy base and a few steep slopes ... best winter hour of this or last year !
  17. next 12 days local forecast has a max of 6 and min of -3'C but wind chill leaves a feels-like max of 1'C and min of -10'C !. Meanwhile wind is mostly southerly . An unusual combination > ...and 6 hours of snow tonight ???
  18. anyway .. talking @ floods .. how may 1000's were flooded as the thaw set i n in 2010 ? Snow and ice are not all fun .. check the OAP fracture stats ...
  19. I did predict a mild winter .. so far so good
  20. "I predict a hot summer "... that's how to do it
