Just pointing out that the BBC isn’t always a reliable source but I think you knew that anyway…

The risk for wildfires there must be a yearly occurrence. They do after all have 300 days of sunshine. Surely climate change has made no difference to their risk of wildfires.

The Electric Car - saving the climate or just polluting in other ways?

I like this idea. I’m sure it has its drawbacks but it seems like a good solution. I can’t see the human race wanting to be restricted to short journeys what with all the hobbies etc that people have me included. It would be a boring life if we all had to stay within a 20mins radius of where we were born. It will become the new class divide if we go down that root. We all know the rich and famous will continue doing as they please whilst telling us what we should be doing. Model Output Discussion - New Year and Beyond

I don’t understand this either. I grew up in the 80’s and saw some amazing winters. Very lucky to be able to remember walking on top of 6ft snow drifts with my family as a lad on the main road from our village in the sun in between showers. Then as the 90s hit we had winter 91 where we had to finish school early due to the threat of being cut off. After that time until 2009 we had only small amounts of snow with the occasional long bout of faux cold due to high pressure inversion. Including 2009 we’ve had a pretty decent run in our coastal corner. I had almost given up on it until 2009. So we’ve had: dec 2009/Jan 2010 dec 2010 Feb 2012 march 13 dec 17 march 18 feb 21 (which was better for snow and longevity than 2018). so for me I don’t know what all the fuss is about needing ssw’s -

One September not all that long ago can’t remember exactly we had near 30 degrees sept 30th and the 1st of October and the way this summer has been I wouldn’t mind betting we will see and extended summer through autumn even if we do have a temporary break down at some point -

Solar Terrestrial Activity Report WWW.SOLEN.INFO A big uptick in solar activity at the wrong time is my thought on why it’s all gone wrong. I know some will laugh but I have a hunch it makes a difference when a sudden change happens to the output of the sun -
Agreed. The small scale finer points will definitely be different nearer the time. But for now happy to see the greeny heights consistently shown. That low on the other side of the pond looks to be disrupting and would likely throw some energy under the block and hopefully lower heights into Iberia?

Our summer had only just started here in east anglia. I was hoping for good warmth until the end of the month at least -
I’ve seen two white Easters in my time both with falling snow. 2008 was decent. But I’ve never seen falling snow at Christmas in 40 years. We had snow on the ground 2010 but the thaw was already well set in.

February cold spell discussion and chat
snow mad replied to Paul's topic in Spring Weather Discussion
Here on the east coast it’s been a really good cold spell. 25/30cm snow which lasted until the rain came in last night. 7 days of sledging with the kids. Snow depth was maintained pretty well over that time. Hope for another next winter. -

Wow this winter from an IMY point of view is horrendous. The green eyed monster has hit hard today. All those snow pictures! Congratulations if you got some. Watched the radar all day thinking slowly getting here. abc all rain arhhhh. Roll on summer I’m warn out waiting for snow to appear. Until the winter killer Azores/Iberian high pressure does one there’s no chance of anything non marginal for the east coast. -
