Winter is over! There I said it. Cannot believe what a crappy set of winters the last five including this one have been. Ha ho onto next winter with more hope and hopefully a decent spring/summer in the meantime.

I love the snow, nothing would make me happier but it just feels like another one of those winters and time is ticking. Mar13 was not great for my neck of the woods so I've had it! Hope for better next winter!

Have been looking forward to spring now for a while so hopefully this feeble attempt at an easterly will Toddle off! now and the warmth from Africa will reach here!

The models are so confused it has confused the Two weather 16 day forecast! Which Saturday is right?

I don't want to pollute this thread with of topic posts but just to say we've had nine weeks already and I bet this winter just fizzles out. I'm now looking forward to the warm sunshine of summer be it in this country or another.

Is it just me or is the thought of an ssw in February something that others are dreading? Not only will we have had cool and boring winter with a pointless dusting of snow yet again. But a cool spring and early summer like last year! Must be getting old...

Wasn't that when the models were showing relentless gales over the Christmas period and now it's flipped to quite anticyclonic?

Reminds me a bit of 2013... nothing great height wise but just enough to deflect what we want in the right direction. At least this is January and not march this time if it happens of course....

I do hope so as today has been lovely and warm in the sun in this cold spell with plenty of sunshine. If only all cold spells were so warm!. Maybe next year we will have a cold, cold spell.

This winter so far I can say us here have only seen four frosts and that's being generous! At least last year we had enough frosts to muck around on a big frozen field puddle over the festive period but this year has been so exceptionally mild we have barely had any ice at all. My daughter was definitely spoilt being born in 07 as she had seen snow here every year after her birth up until early 13, now it's gone totally the other way. I do hope this isn't the end for decent winters for the uk. I was spoilt as a child growing up in the 80's and have been obsessed with 6ft snow drifts and mega easterlies ever since. I do hope she doesn't have to wait another twenty years for some snowy fun again!

In 87 I was 8 and We lived in a village that was 10 miles to the nearest town and we were cut off for a week! I remember most of our family and extended family out for a walk on top of the snow drifts level with six foot high hedge rows! I want my children to experience it as they don't believe me that it can happen but it sure did in the 80s here. 91 was not quite as extreme but we have a similar experience with secondary school in that we battled through the snow only to be sent home an hour later! Really need a blizzard sometime soon as I'll be to old to enjoy it at this rate.

87 and 91 had more breeze which is what's been lacking in recent times! I want to walk on top of 6 foot snow drifts one more time before global warming scuppers everything! Don't know where that quote came from? Was meant to quote above post

It is down here! I think the euro heights has been the overwhelming trend on all models for at least a week now! And we all know how long that can hang around and could quite easily scupper the rest of winter. Would love to be totally wrong

I'm more thinking of snow rather than just cold as Down here we haven't had snow in February with the exception of 2012, as my name would suggest that is my main interest in winter. And after the 3 past winters being snowless in one and only two dusting that melted after an hour in the others I certainly don't see us getting any snow now unfortunately.

I hope it does as we may as well have an early spring cos winter this year just isn't going to happen! People may say how can you say this with so much winter left? It's going to be at least 2 weeks before we get any sort of chance and for us down here Feb cold is extremely rare and March cold is a waste of time.

Yes this cold spell is pathetic! Not even cold. I feel like I've wasted to many hours of my life looking at the model runs over the last three years. This wasn't even a cold spell it was an average spell borrring

This looks like being a sh#t cold spell in a sh#t run of winters! Bring on summer. Probably knowing our luck will be colder than this sh#tty cold spell that isn't that cold and certainly isn't going to be snowy. Onto next winter please as this one is pants!

This time a few days ago the anomaly charts were showing black holes which almost disappeared over night so I don't think I'll be staying up late waiting to see what happens. Just weather but it has been very disappointing to see this cold spell downgraded so much!

Long way back to cold from here! Hope this doesn't happen
