  1. I wonder how sunshine totals this September are doing? I imagine they would have shot up over the last 3 days.
  2. The next total lunar eclipse where all stages are visible from the UK won't be until....20th December 2029!
  3. Could be the first September that was at least 1.0C below the 1971-2000 average since that average came into existence. An indication of the lack of cold Septembers over some years. And believe it or not we still haven't recorded an April that was at least 1.0C below the 1961-90 average came into existence and that was 25 years ago.
  4. Lovely eclipse. It wasn't a "bright" total lunar eclipse 1 or 2 on the Danjon scale?
  5. A taste of winter for Cumbrian fells, 20 years ago today
  6. I don't know what happened with the clouds around 2.30 to 2.35 but the waving motion was odd
  7. Danjon scale The brightness of the total lunar eclipse will depend on the aerosols in the atmosphere.
  8. First pre 7pm sunset for Manchester since the clocks went forward.
  9. I recall that there was a very cool pool of water in the North Atlantic between Newfoundland and the UK during 1972, one of the reasons that was used to explain why June 1972 was so cool. That had a particular cool May to September CET period, much cooler than we have had this year but this current period does look like the coolest since 1993. Interestingly there was an El Niño during 1972-73.
  10. It looks a cooler and drier than average September. The last one was 1990.
  11. Could end up the coolest May to September CET period since 1993
