  1. No snow during December 2001? You saw snow during December 2006? That is a surprise, saw snow on 23rd, 26th, 29th and 30th December 2001, lying snow as well Didn't see snow during December 2002, 2006, 2007, 2012.
  2. It has to be said though neither Manchester nor Liverpool airports latest TAFs go for anything wintry.I'm not holding out for anything, I personally don't expect to see anything wintry this side of the New Year now.
  3. Because this is why From a text book I have from 1957, our average winter pressure pattern and we must accept it and be realistic.
  4. Not sure they will make landfall. There was quite a few over the Irish Sea earlier today and they largely died out for some reason by time it came onshore. As for snow prospects, I'm not expecting anything now until after the New Year.
  5. EC32 and winter 2011-12. Does anyone remember Matt Hugo kept referring to EC32 and signals of higher pressures towards the back end of that January in the Greenland region? Infact, there was no blocking at all there in the end.
  6. I posted this in the history forum, a snowy little gem from 20 years ago http://forum.netweather.tv/topic/78812-20th-december-1993-a-snowy-little-gem-from-20-years-ago/
  7. Remember this well, a little low tracked across the Midlands giving snow on its northern flank across North Wales, southern parts of Northern England and the north Midlands during the evening of the 20th December 1993. I was surprised by it, remembering looking out the window after 5PM to see it snowing and gradually sticking. After two atrocious winters on the trot for snow, it was nice to see something festive within a week of Christmas. We had a snow cover the next morning. Forecast by Rob McElwee.
  8. A different world again. It was blowy, squally last night now it's clear and calm like Tuesday morning.
  9. She may get from good sources but ultimately she puts in her own words. It's not scripted and hence why she makes gaffes at times. For instance despite good sources as you put it, she once said we had clearing skies during the day when infact it was the exact opposite! She says despite the rain and cloud it will be a mild night, well that is precisely why it is a mild night during winter!
  10. She's says it within her limited meteorological knowledge which is negligible.
  11. Hmm look at this based on ECM http://www.yr.no/place/United_Kingdom/England/Manchester/long.html
  12. Not good if you are going to Midnight Mass in county Galway if it came off.
  13. It was January 1884http://www.ukweatherworld.co.uk/forum/index.php?/topic/67293-the-lowest-pressure-reading-recorded-in-the-uk/
