  1. If you zoom right in on the radar (and have good eyesight lol), there's grey blobs over parts of S Wales. Barely visible and doesn't even show up on the M.O radar but its clearly producing snow in Newport and Cardiff.
  2. Lamppost confirms its snowing lightly in Newport still but nothing on radar
  3. Longest icicle I've seen today is on the neighbours porch and is about 30-40cm but thin. I remember all houses here had icicles 1-2 feet long and quite thick in 2010. Hoping for the same over the coming days Also some flakes of snow in Newport with darker clouds coming over..
  4. I thought clear skies would encourage more melting due to the sunshine? Seems to be the opposite with clouds making it warmer?
  5. Snow looks as awesome as it did yesterday, virtually no melt and lots of mini icicles building up.
  6. 42CM??!! 4 2 C M ?! We need to see pictures haha there must be a mistake
  7. Precip is gradually weakening but should hit SE Wales as light to moderate snow
  8. On a serious note, all of the cables around here have doubled or tripled in circumference due to the sticky snow coating them, this has now frozen solid so it won't fall off in a bit of wind. Doesn't seem very safe at the moment..
  9. Definitely! Looking out my window and the world has turned orange for the night.
  10. Snow has frozen over and icicles formed, I can't see any of this defrosting and fully melting until it gets mild and that could be at least a week, maybe more.. It'll be an ice rink on the pavements and roads just like 2010!
  11. More heavy precip showing up on radar currently hitting cornwall + devon.
  12. Light but icy pellets coming down in Newport, not quite sleet but not snow either? Similarly, radar shows zero precip over head lol.
  13. But that cloud is in range of the precip radars already and netweather/M.O are showing nothing. Either it has zero precipitation or it'll intensify as it crosses the Irish sea and hits land? We can only hope!
  14. Radar showing nothing out into the Irish sea regarding that cloud. The snow people are having now is from showers.
  15. Those are not a few feet high? .. There are only 3 feet in a metre lol. Unless that pic isn't showing the drifts.
  16. The forecast was very wrong if you look at the fine detail. Snow was meant to start at 2/3AM but there was heavy rain from 2-4AM and then it snowed heavily for around 7 (11AM/12PM) hours. Whereas forecast said it would heavy snow from 2AM until past midnight. V wrong but in general it was ok. Not that i'm complaining about the dumping of heavy snow we've had.
  17. BBC is usually always over estimating temps for Newport. M.O also forecasting lows of -1 tonight but we have a lot of snow so I thought it'd be more like -5 or below..
  18. 17cm / 7 inches of snow in the field near me (Newport). Must have blown about and built up. Much better than the 2-5cm that was hinted at for coastal areas.
  19. There's a long chain of showers still forming west of the Bristol channel, these should give S Wales heavy snow > light snow > heavy snow and so on for quite a few hours until they stop forming.
  20. There are occasional big clouds of snow blowing off roofs engulfing anyone walking by haha
  21. Snow getting heavier in Newport now, hasn't really stopped since 4am.. just got lighter in between.
  22. I don't think it's as bad as the red warning made out for the valleys! But we'll see what it turns out like at the end of the day.
  23. 3 inches of snow in Newport so far. We're in a clear gap atm but it should pick up in 60+ mins as a new band moves in.
  24. Looks like the snow could be out of here by 10am according to the radar, some showers behind the band but nothing that justifies heavy snow forecast all day lol.
