  1. It seems a lot slower than last night's PPN. Just hovering around the Bristol channel for the past 30+ minutes
  2. 1.5 degrees in Newport, winds are breezy now. PPN is very close on the radar.
  3. Some reports of snow in Bristol now, radar loop shows a N-NW movement, could be a direct hit for S/SE Wales. NAE shows heaviest snow at midnight-6am so it looks like this PPN could be quite slow.
  4. 2 degrees in Newport, dropped from 4.5 degrees just an hour ago. Wind also picking up.
  5. Amber warnings aren't extending as far north or west as friday for the bulk of the valleys. Then again there are just a few miles in it so anything could happen.
  6. Ian F said somewhere on the forum or twitter that the yellow ice warnings issued were instead warnings for snow but the met office didn't have enough confidence to issue a full snow warning.
  7. Weather warnings about to be upgraded according to BBC24. It also showed the heavy snow further north and east into Wednesday AM, missing out on Cardiff and the valleys.. Likely to change though
  8. Well I'm guessing this next band of PPN isn't the main band that's meant to hit until Wednesday AM? Whatever it is, it's intensifying and may hit us soon.
  9. Only ended up getting 1 or 2 cm here but what an eventful night! Thunder snow, hail and snow from that bunch of showers over the SW. Hopefully it's a taster for what's to come from the main band tonight/tomorrow AM.
  10. Next area of PPN could miss South Wales altogether if it keeps east
  11. PPN over Devon moving northwards but more to the east this time, looks like SE Wales could have 1-3 more hours of snow depending how quick it moves through
  12. Wow! Huge flakes in Newport, must be an inch across and you can clearly see them without looking near lamppost
  13. I think that's the main band that's not expected to hit until Wednesday AM? Not too sure though
  14. Somewhere north west of Cardiff is getting a good covering according to the radar
  15. And just as I say that and look outside... Heavy snow in Newport! Everything has a fine white dusting in just a few minutes. Quicker than Fridays snow cover.
  16. Intensity is increasing over South Wales in latest radar
  17. Yep it doesn't seem to be stalling so there won't be huge accumulations, could change anytime time though
  18. Straight to light snow in Newport :) it looks intense just north of Cardiff!
  19. M.O online forecast finally showing sleet for the early hours. Then further upgrades for Wednesday AM, heavy snow 0000-0600. All very confusing since the tv forecasts have been so brief and lacking.
  20. Radar is good for Cardiff westwards! Looks like Newport might miss out for now, unless the band swings around a bit. Reports of rain or snow should be coming in any time now
  21. Dry in Newport, eagerly awaiting the next radar update to see if things are intensifying in the Bristol Channel ..
  22. A lot of PPN has just appeared over the Bristol Channel in the past 15 minutes! :o looking good so far.
  23. I think it'll be rain for coastal areas unfortunately. We had a good 2 hours of heavy rain before the snow on Friday. This band of precipitation just isn't large enough to pull in low dew points from far afield or stay over us long enough for the transition. Hope I'm wrong!
