  1. Yes, would say on 12Z GFS definitely been a swing towards Atlantic domination and low after low, control run looks especially ugly think from 8th Jan, zonality will dominate, just hope not too much flooding or gale damage, and make most of dry 'windows' as we don't look like getting a fully dry day when zonality arrives
  2. supposed to mild up in the night for the north, south of region though remaining cold and clear
  3. models look pants! no snow due for south for entire run, winter not really back on, never comes earlier than 372 or 384
  4. Based usually on last chart on ECM at 240, 240, day 10, also last high resolution chart on GFS, 252 day 11 on GFS low resolution deep FI
  5. not liking 06Z. zonality returns around 9th Jan, snow in Scotland, wet average south
  6. Slightly different though as Greenie is further north than Iceland
  7. probably not in your location, I'm always confident of snow in Aberdeen, Mark, I'd never think summer over on July 2, as we are guaranteed summery weather, especially in Aug and Sep
  8. remember it WH, but not a flake here, gone are the days of those uppers/thicknesses but a NW'ly, again 20th Dec was similar in '09, but Westerly winds, so not a flake here
  9. ECM not on board though with cold arriving on 12th, GFS fairly mild on 11th, then cold on 12th
  10. can only agree, it's FI for a reason though, but sure if day 10 was mild/average it'll come off
  11. Well members in north Midlands above 300m asl, just had rain and sleet! could be different down south though if colder air overtakes ppn
  12. Zonal month, but cold and very snowy at times, convinced 33 years later, would fall as mostly rain and sleet south, still lots of snow above 300m north I would think,
  13. Hope we don't see a Jan '84 setup, maybe signs of it on latest 2 GFS runs, as definitely for low levels in the south, nowadays it would be less snowy, as a guess our temp in every airstream gone up by 0.3°, since '84 enough to wipe out low level southern snow, in certain setups
  14. Summer my favourite season now, decent warm days, relaxing weather, not a severe heat lover but it's rare anyway as far as winter goes, the mõdern era has taken me off winters, and really most of the time here in the south, it tends to be more like autumn, except for the odd month, who wants wind and rain and 10° temps all winter
  15. probably because PV not developed, Dec to Feb is strongest PV, strongest jet, where as by April, HLB much easier with PV waning, seems like that anyway
  16. control at 252, still not believing northerly is on, bound to downgrade and miss to the east, leaving milder Atlantic air running over top of the high
  17. yes, harder to achieve more accurate, the mõdern era is a tough thing, even this setup we have today, would be snowier 20 years ago, snow line would be lower, dumping at Buxton, wet snow here
  18. 252 on GFS, another go at a northerly around Thurs 12th, still not believing it yet
