Rain galore in Cardiff this evening, feeling very mild indeed.
-
I keep telling myself when it finally arrives it will be worth the wait.

Temps are on the rise in Cardiff, by the time the precipitation arrives it's going to be rain (possibly sleet) as per forecast.
Even when there's a very slim chance of snow, I just can't help myself from half expecting an unexpected dumping. All the best snow is surprise snow.

I sympathise. I miss my old lamppost too. Many an hour I spent gazing at it. I moved in 2013 and have only recently discovered how rubbish my new lamppost is. It's much further away and well, with my eye sight these days I had to use my camera and zoom in to get a decent view. Maybe I'll just have to wait until it blankets the ground. Lol. I may have a long wait.

Good morning. Ex weather station owner (Left the remains at our last house when we moved), considering a NETATMO, but more importantly, very excited about the prospect of reporting in with news of big snow.
Based in the SE of Wales, near sea level between Chepstow and Langstone. Very rusty meteorological knowledge from my private pilot licence learning. Fingers crossed. Just looked out window, - very very wet ground having had so much precipitation over the past few days - chilly as an otters nose (technical term) and what appears to be almost frost forming on the grass of a well known ex - military base in the area..
Hi Hackett, always nice to see a new face around.
It's colder here than what was forecast this morning. Forecast 6c and it's currently 3.8c. Looks like that blast of cold is taking hold.
-
Hail galore and more thunder!
It brought the temp down from 6c to 4.2c in minutes.

I think about 26mph sounds about right, with gusts of up to 50-60mph at times. I think the winds are due to pick up early this evening.
-
Patchy ice pellets on the grass down here. Was great to see the thunder, sleet and hail last night. Here's hoping this was just the appetiser and next week we get a proper pelting.
-
I'd love a snow day too, it feels like the last one was a lifetime ago.
-
Looking at the radar it shouldn't be long before the next band of precipitation hits Cardiff. Will be interesting to see what falls from the skies.
-
Huge rumbles of thunder, lightning, sleet and hail here in Cardiff. It feels bitterly cold out there compared to earlier, local weather station is still reporting temps of 4.4c.
-
Gone very windy suddenly. I moved February 2013 and have just discovered my new lamp posts are absolute rubbish for snow watch.
Dewpoint seems to be dropping, but frustratingly the temp itself has risen to 5.1c. Fingers crossed for later.
-
A little hail in Cardiff. Come on temps, drop like a stone please.
-
Heavy grey rain here, but nothing wintery is forecast until this evening.
-
Temps have fallen 6c compared to yesterday. Hoping they continue to drop like a stone and even if it's a slushy mess, that Cardiff gets a covering of the white stuff. We have been snow starved for so long, I will be jumping for joy IF I see some flakes falling. Lamp posts at the ready, Wales!

I opened the front door and it nearly blew off its hinges. Definitely stay indoors and stay safe people. You never know what will be flying around out there tonight, might even spot a flying cow or 2.

This one Tony. http://www.cbwac.com/harbour/harbour/barrage/Current_Vantage_Pro_Plus.htm
It's now reporting 65mph at 5.32pm. It's howling out there, I keep picking up plant pots and my big wheely bin, but 5 minutes later they're all trying to escape again.
-
Wow! Winds have gone crazy in the last hour, everything's blowing all over the place outside and it's really howling. Gusts of 55mph at the moment here in Cardiff.

It is quiet here this Winter. I'm guilty of popping in, looking for a miracle and skulking back out the door again.
I remember the snowfalls of the 80's. Rolling out the front in the snow, burying friends and snowball fights galore, but then I remember the compacted snow and ice that seemed to last for weeks after. I used to pretend to skate everywhere, many many falls and sore bums.
My sister got married in January 1982. That was the biggest snowfall I have ever witnessed to hit Cardiff. The drifts came at least 7-8 foot up the windows of our house. The neighbours had to dig a path to the main road, so the car could pick my sister up and take her to the church. It was FREEZING stood around in a bridesmaid dress. What i wouldn't give to experience that level of snow and cold again!

I think I need to put my house on stilts.

It's nice to be back with the Wales thread.
I'm another one extremely jealous of the snow that has fallen on the other side of the Atlantic. It's been a quiet few years on the snow front here, hoping this Winter gives us a nice white covering.

Snap! Though I'm sure somebody said before that the radar shows the predicted precipitation and not what's actually happening right then.
