Ahh, good old facebook with their memories. I was drooling over the snow of years gone by too.
A light frost here overnight, just reaching 0c. Well, 0.1c, but close enough.

This week has been a real let down for most of us, but I can't help thinking after all these near misses we have to strike it lucky soon.
Eternal optimist? Maybe, but Winter's not over yet.

Netweather's forecast on Monday for Cardiff is now sleet all day. That's an improvement on the rain first forecast.

Pembrokeshire has missed out totally I think. It's bitterly cold but pretty blue skies still.
Cardiff did too. There was a little sleety rain after midnight and that was our lot.
I have the no snow blues today.

Back to a clear starry sky now. Hopefully the temp will drop a little more before the next blob arrives.

Sleet here, big flakes mixed in.
Yes! i got to see a flake.

PPN has finally arrived. I hear rain. Don't have the heart to look out of the window, but it's definitely the pattering of rain.

I was just having a read in the SW forum and Fergie posted. People were disheartened and he said he was just out of a conference and not to judge the situation too early. Sounds like the MO expect the real stuff to arrive a little later.

Wow! That photo of Dowlais. I'll take some of that please.

Does my head in lol, surely it all can't miss us!
It can't. Positive thinking.
This is just the first batch I'm sure/hope there'll be more later in the night. Not sure I can keep watching the radar though, it's such a rollercoaster. Lol

I thought Cardiff was about to get lucky, then the big pink blob veered east towards Newport and turned to sleet.

Although the outside temp is dropping my dewpoint is rising and giving me a mini panic. Every year I swear I'm not getting caught up in all this excitement and nervous waiting again, but when the time comes it's just irresistible.
I watch 2 local weather stations, one in Bute Park and the other at Cardiff Bay Barrage. I kind of live between the 2. Despite the closeness of the stations they vary by a few degrees. I never know which one I should stick to and believe.
Come on precipitation, plough down to us. Please.

This handy little calculator does that for you.

Met Office has only issued a yellow warning of snow, the actual hour to hour forecast is just showing a small amount of sleet. I just watched ITV weather and there was definitely a few white blobs over Cardiff.
They rarely forecast our snow accurately, so hopefully we'll see something overnight into the morning.

It's looking good. Dew points are much lower today too. Every little helps.

Only time will tell if we get lucky. Think there'll be lots of us lamp post and radar watching tonight. I'm nervously optimistic.

I hadn't seen the MO warning for Cardiff. I read the story on Wales Online and thought it was just missing us. That's cheered me up.

Although not forecast it's got to be our best chance this winter.
Happy Birthday btw.

Forecast to fall as rain here in Cardiff, but hey, the best snow is always unexpected.
-
Not quite as cold as yesterday morning here, but it feels colder in my old bones. Bitter out there. No sign of snow, sleet or any other flaky stuff.
Brrrrr.

I remember the snow event of '82! Never since have I seen snow quite like it here in Cardiff. My sister got married in it and all the neighbours had to dig a path to the main road for the car to pick her up.
It's feeling much colder here today, precipitation that fell this morning was rain. I was really hoping it may have been sleet. We got down to 1.8c just before the rain hit. Come on cold spell, dig in a little deeper.
I know we're not really forecast anything, but snow does have a habit of arriving unexpectedly. I still have everything crossed for some white flakes before the weekend.

We've been unlucky two winters in a row. I'm pretty hopeful and confident that we're due some real cold this year and a decent snowfall.

Coldest night of the winter so far. My bin was frozen shut by 8pm. Shame there's no ppn around tonight, bit at least it's sub zero and we'll have a good frosty morning.
