I can't wait to see my dog in the snow. He's nearly 2, so never seen snow on the ground before.
That was a nice unexpected little snow shower. As fast as it was landing on the ground it was blowing all over the place. Fingers crossed for a little more today before tomorrow's big event.

too right - my brother is a big part of the stadium down there too, he works there and has lots of responsibility for tickets etc Christopher martin - he just put a plaque on the memory wall for dad - which I've gotta go and see - dad would watch one match or three in one day on the tv then listen on radio wales or another radio station at the same time to more footy and then be reading about it in a newspaper - he loved his footy, I bet they'll be letting him watch as much footy as he wants now up in heaven - I hope so anyway - he's always in my thoughts now - he was a rock and steady man - 40 years a bricklayer - and then a taxi driver cause the winters got too bad for him before he finally earned his retirement - but this bloody disease just took all his dignity - luckily god took him away from us before he ended up in a wheel chair with no movement at all sucking all his meals up through a straw
Edit - snowing really heavily now
sorry to be so depressive about my dad - but I loved him - and my mam is taking it bad too - only man she loved for 52 years - the song "Dance with my father again" Luther Vandross is very appropriate - just sends me over the edge - sorry folks i'll try not to mention it again - and get back to the weather - which is what we are here for
It is so difficult to lose a parent, Andy. So please don't apologise for being upset or talking about him. I don't believe it's something we ever really get over. We just learn to cope better with each day that passes by.
My dad died in 2012 and last February we lost my Mum suddently too.
I like to think they're up there watching down on us and never far away.
PS That Luther song kills me too and also Supermarket Flowers, Ed Sheeran.
Right, 1 more sleep until Snowmageddon.

And that windchill. Brrr. it's bitterly cold.

It's coming down again here in Cardiff, don't think it will settle though. It's not heavy enough yet.

Looking likely. The Met Office have us down for heavy snow at 4pm. An 80% chance.

Some showers coming through Gloucester on the radar, wonder if they have the legs to make it to Cardiff.

Sledge is staying in the shed until it starts snowing, I'm not jinxing it.
I'm just dithering about ordering one from Amazon. Don't want to jinx it though.

Can you imagine our disappointment if this turns to a rain event?
It's looking good, but after being let down so many times before I am cautious.
Also very excited with a proper Spring in my step today.
It's coming!!!! (I hope)

I finally seen a few flakes! Okay, no covering, but there's teeny grains amongst the grass.
Roll on Thursday, it can't come quick enough for me.

I keep checking the forecast and going from crippling disappointment back to stupidly excited hour to hour!
Ha Ha. The roller-coaster that comes with chasing snow in our climate.

I have to say that that was perhaps my favourite Derek broadcast ever, my dream forecast, and something I never thought I'd see/hear: him pointing to a picture of the 1982 event and saying "... and we could be seeing scenes like this later in the week."
And all this from a man who has never been prone to ramping.
I rewound the whole forecast and recorded it. It's so rare to hear Derek mention blizzards.

Calm down, calm down....No need to shout - we're all in the same room!
Can't believe Cardiff is off the warning though - this morning it was looking to get more snow than almost anywhere else. Where's it all going??? Maybe Cardigan?
I think half of Cardiff is still covered by the warning. Just watching BBC Wales weather forecast and Derek sounds quite concerned about the end if the week. Very unlike Derek.

Whole of Wales under an amber for tomorrow.. will it, or won't it?
Everyone except me. Lmao. That cut off point going through Cardiff has really tickled me.

stupid warning - they should have included it - that won't be the case come the day - no way
It's only for tomorrow, Andy. Still got a warning for Thursday and Friday. I think we'll probably see a few flakes fall over the next few days, but we were never forecast to get much from the initial showers. I'm still hopeful for the end of the week.
-
The warnings aren't gospel and I wasn't really expecting much during the week. It's towards the end of the week i think we really could strike it lucky.

It's weird I'm in pentwyn but the warning covers me lol.

Cardiff has been removed from tomorrow's Met Office weather warning. Warnings still in place for Thursday and Friday though.

I've been checking in on this forum religiously since last week as well as checking the weather about 1000 times a day. Thought I'd come and say hello rather than lurking. I'm 28 and have always lived on the coast (Milford Haven) and now I live in Port Talbot so I've never seen much snow. This is driving me mad now! I want it to happen so much, I want real snow! Not sure how we'll fair in Port Talbot with snow but I'm keeping everything possible crossed.
Oh, and hello everyone
Hello there and welcome to the forum. I think we're all desperate for some snow. Cardiff here and not seen a decent snowfall since 2010.

Those showers just don't seem to have the legs to reach Cardiff at the moment. They seem to break up over the Bristol Channel, the clouds are definitely thickening up though, so hopefully they may pep up a little later.

Thursday and Friday has our name on it!
-
Clouds really thickened up here, was bright and clear just an hour ago. I haven't seen anything falling from the sky yet, won't be long though according to the radar.
-
It feels really strange to be looking to our east for the precipitation, definitely not used to this weather set up.
