Won't the site be closed due to health and safety?

The snowfall was clearly very unpredictable away from the Eastern side of the country and FOR the Eastern side of the country it was widespread BUT localised too. A very tricky forecast all round. People who used the weather apps were no doubt misled as the data just wasn't accurate due to model uncertainty. This is where forecasters should be able to step in and use their experience and expertise to interpret the situation properly and I guess some nailed it with their wording and some didn't!

Sounds amazing! My corner of the world is on the edge of the Cotswolds but sadly lacking frost this year. I took this picture a few years ago it was -6 on my way to work. I haven't seen anything like this this year. By the way, I recall your name from the MetMonkey days "why is Carlisle so mild" and why do I remember random things?! Lol

Actually I take it back when I said its not THAT cold. I'm out for a walk and it feels properly bitter today, more so than yesterday! Lol MetO app says 1c but feels like -5. I would agree with that!

Last Thursday it became clear that this cold spell was definitely going to be an event for predominantly the Eastern side of the county. So although a little disappointing for us lot further west it has not been entirely unexpected. From an IMBY perspective, its not been THAT cold and of course very little snow. Still had a dusting which is more than some! Personally I've not written this Easterly off yet as there is still hope and interest for me. But I bet the people who have been right in the thick of it have a very different opinion and for them I'm sure it's been very memorable! So it's all very subjective. Half the problem was the ramping type posts in the mod thread which may have falsely set expectations too high for some people. In any case, this cold spell could still surprises for some and February is not over by a long way!

Yes If I recall it stalled right over Oxfordshire and gave a 20-30cm dumping! Very tasty!

All of the ppn seemingly heading over me is simply fizzling out and producing very light snizzle. It's just too weak. Hopefully see some more organised bands overnight and into tomorrow.

Indeed and the radar can be deceptive as constantly changing where the ppn is. It is snowing again now and finally looks like a blob may furnish me with all of its pathetic snizzle lol

I'll report on intensity (or otherwise) in around 25 mins! On paper it looks decent but could just be Mr Lighty McSnizzleface again.

The metoffice one is reasonably good actually under normal circumstances. Under current conditions though no app is going to be that useful apart from temperature because the weather models are all over the place.

Haha my wife's iPhone is hilarious, she keeps on telling me it's forecasting snow armageddon every week. Its useless!

Why don't you use the Met Office one it's much better?

Morning currently -1 here. Very light dusting overnight which looks quite nice. You can see that the snow is so dry and grainy that it blows around easily in the wind and settles in different places. Snowing now, again very very light probbaly why it's not showing on radar. Let's hope more stuff blows to the West!

Will do. Temp down to 1 now feeling much colder than earlier this afternoon.
