  1. Haha......i..... remember him........... But wasnt he called Bill......Farkin.....? lol
  2. For my area West Oxon, the Met Office weather forecast is now showing heavy snow from 19:00 to midnight. That is quite an upgrade on what it was saying earlier.
  3. i think you need to try and maintain good humour throughout these situations otherwise you'll have a meltdown! I fully expect the band of precip to split into two and divert either side of West Oxon thus piddling on the smug bonfire I lit after yesterdays model viewing lol
  4. Yes you are correct! The amber just sneaks into MetO SE region doesn't it. These maps are bloody confusing sometimes!
  5. For what its worth GFS seems to paint the best picture for this evenings fun and games. Met Office have plenty of warning out so that would suggest some unpredictability even at this late stage. Interestingly they say there is an Amber Warning for the SE however thats not reflected on their map. Odd!
  6. ICON, ARPEGE, HIRLAM all looking much weaker in terms of intensity and northern extent this morning. Bit of a downgrade to my eyes but interesting how this pans out nonetheless!
  7. its a fraction further south and i'm talking cigarette papers here
  8. Extreme south of the midlands, extreme north west of se region, extreme north east of the sw region lol We need our own region
  9. If I could bank the ICON I would! I like the fact there is a second shot of snow on Friday lunchtime that looks quite intense over Oxfordshire
  10. Well I reckon the ARPEGE is looking very tasty for south midlands. All this tooing and froing it will probably be somewhere in between!
  11. ICON, ARPEGE, HIRLAM all at 1am Fri HIRLAM looks to be 75? miles further north than ICON. ARPEGE somewhere inbetween the two.
  12. Being in West Oxfordshire I feel like I'm sat in the sweet spot because unless the shift North or South is extreme I should be seeing some of the white stuff tomorrow evening regardless. I'm sure my little gloat will be punished severely when this all goes jelly tots up over the next 24hrs lol. I noticed that with this mornings ICON the pivot effect is not quite as favourable and it all fizzles out southwards quickly. Yesterday the pivot was giving a second shot at snow as it cleared south. Anyway fingers crossed for a decent outcome for all!
  13. Looks like there is a bit more coming our way on the rain radar!
  14. I retract my above statement! Just driven back from work and the roads are becoming treacherous. Fairly light snow but it is starting to have an impact! About 3cm i reckon.
  15. Right, it is "old chestnut time"! The great Oxfordshire Snow Deflector is being deployed as I type! Lots of local schools are closing early today although by the looks of the radar it seems to me to be a somewhat rash decision. Would love to be proved wrong of course but all the precip seems to be veering NW. A snow day without any snow would be a shame for the kids! Still, enjoying this interesting weather regardless although the frozen bathroom tap is a bit of a ball ache!
  16. Exciting week coming up! Any idea how Oxfordshire will fare? Theres always talk of North, South, East and West yet we're stuck in the middle of it all! ?
  17. Not sure why some are getting in a flap....next week looks brilliant regardless how the week ends!
  18. Ive seen a few media outlets saying yesterdays snow disruption was caused by Storm Caroline. This isnt strictly true is it? We had a cold air mass in the wake of the storm but the ppn was brought in from that Greenland slider low?
  19. Next doors ivy tree thing is totally boned ??? thats about 2 months worth of garden waste collection!
  20. Yeah 2 inches here in Witney....just had quite a heavy burst. Hope those further south see some snow soon! Bitterly cold out. This pic front of my house ?
  21. Seems to be very light grainy stuff falling at the moment. Want it to pep up a bit but a nice covering so far albeit not much more than an inch so far. Radar looks good for perhaps some heavier stuff in a couple of hours!
  22. About an inch of snow here in Witney. Must be knife edge stuff anywhere south of oxford!
