    Just had a quick wander outside and our neighbourhood is pretty noisy at the moment with clattering and banging going on! Safe to say the storm has hit!

    Gusts definitely picking up now in West Oxon, becoming stronger and more frequent.

    Was fairly lively here couple hours ago but a bit of a lull since as the rain moved through.

    Yes it's unbelievable really and just shows how some people live in a bubble. Unfortunately it's likely some poor soul will lose their life from this storm. One bad decision or wrong place wrong time and it's game over. The warning are there to minimise such things and prepare accordingly. Stay safe everyone

    I live west of oxford very near the amber cut off. Perhaps later I'll walk a mile to the left and report back

    Funnily enough I was about to post similar. I cannot remember a storm this intense for my area that has lasted 8 hours in recent times? We've had some 50mph gusts last few months I think but only for a short period. This will be around 60/65 mph so pretty wild by all accounts.

    Should be a countrywide amber I think despite this being an evening/overnight event. Hopefully people will avoid travel and trampolines!

    Dry as a bone here not even that cold! Can't complain really as it's nice weather but boring as hell not having a sniff of snow. Bring on the mild I'm done with it

    Similar here in West Oxon. Would love a dusting of snow to top it off but alas Oxfordshire looks the ultimate destination this week to avoid any of that fun

    Yeah my feelings too. We have a spell of decent cold coming up and with the chopping and changing of model output what's not to say there will be some interesting twists and turns of the snowy variety along the way? In any case winter isn't done by a long way with Feb and March all to play for!

    Wind has really picked up over the last 30 mins in West Oxon. Would estimate gusts around 40mph at present. Quite unusual to have an Amber warning for this area!

    I don't know for certain but feels like we're still getting gusts approx 70mph here is west Oxon.

    Starting to get pretty wild here in West Oxfordshire! Probably have a sustained wind speed of 25-30 with 45 gusts.

    It might be standard winter weather for your back yard but for many it is not and it poses a danger. Warnings are justified and necessary.
