We were talking about a few days at 40 deg,its easy to cope just start work early,go home and chill a few hours and back at 4 pm and do a few more hours if you suffer that bad.
Surprised you closed down at that temperature,my friends uncle worked for many years in Perth,West Australia in a Foundry,he said he prayed every day that the wind came off the ocean!
I for one would welcome it .I worked through it last year working hard with overalls on,a handful of days a year is not the end of the world, the Aussies handle it well.Trying to do a roofing job this week and cannot get anything done,14 deg and rain is not Summer to me its harking back memories of 1986 of which Markyo would have loved!
Those are tropical figures compared to here in the Pennines
September 2000 average temp 13.8 deg,140mm rain,96 hours sun
September 2001 12.8 deg,80mm rain,79 hours sun
September 1986 Average 11.05 deg,yes,11.05 deg, 7mm rain,167 hours sun
Maybe different for you in the South but here in the hilly Pennines 1992 was very decent takingaway a few very wet days,1993 was average althoug cool,1994 average and three good or exceptional Augusts from 1995 to 1997.
The only poor summer in the 90s was 1998.June 1991 may not have been good but for me brought up as a farmer Summer is July and August and June does not matter so much.July and August 1991 were in fact quite decent and overall the Summer was fairly average despite June.
A dry and cloudy start with light rain arriving later in the morning giving moderate rain spells for much of the afternoon with low cloud, max 14 deg,min 10 deg
A dry, sunny and very warm day with a thunderstorm passing at tea, thunder and lightening and a heavy shower but missed the storm itself, clearing later.Max 23 deg,min 14 deg
Ah yes you are right am getting mixed up with August, yes 2013 was shaping up to be a great summer and it would have been on a par with 2022 had it not been for the usual cloudy August,i think in Hampshire you had a better August than here.2014 similar.
