  1. Does this mean no more Miss Kirkwood? Mornings will never be the same again! :-(
  2. No rain at all here, needless to say no thunder heard or lightening seen. Will be interesting to see how today develops.
  3. Had some heavy rain for 10 mins from the cell that went on to pass leicester, no thunder but could see constant flashing to our East at 11pm, not enough to photo but entertaining all the same. One chap on the Farming Forum had 66mm rain over a 3 hr period, won't have done his crops much good. Sounds like some of you had an epic evening!!!
  4. Towering ac cas here between the grot, humid, not especially warm but happy to be out, all the jets are flying into the Air Tatoo so something to watch!
  5. Had some lovely Mammatus around 7 here, looked like we might have been in for a deluge, didn't have my camera with me at the time.
  6. On the edge of one cell here at Ampney Crucis, an awful lot of CtoC lightening with very few forks seen as storm approached, not a huge amount in the way of thunder either. As it passed there were quite a few forks observed with the occasional cloud to ground strike, torrential rain, 19mm in 20 mins but was surreal to watch the cell pass only for the moon to come out and light the cloudscape up. Managed to get a few half decent pictures but wasn't the best prepared and only from the bedroom window! Wasn't as good photo wise as the storm last year. The crops on the farm will be grateful of the rain!
  7. 27 degrees here now the top cover has cleared off, humid too despite the breeze. Hope we all get to see some action this eve, I am hopeful, every chart you look at seems to say this area or that and to be frank I am not sure anyone has a clue where storms are going to be. Good luck all and stay safe!
  8. Camera at the ready, won't be chasing but will sit in the Cotswolds and see what comes around. Need some rain desperately for my crops but could do without the huge hail as would strip them!
  9. Def lenticular clouds, the rough looking cu underneath is more than likely rotor cu, often associated with lee waves, if you did a time lapse the Lennies would pretty much stay in the same place and the cu under them would be seen to form, roll and then dissipate with a constant supply of fresh cloud forming on the windward edge. Turbulent airflow under the laminar airflow (where the lenticulars are) As a glider pilot lenticulars are my favorite for of lift, found on the windward side of the cloud, simply magic to be amongst them and witness mother nature at her best, the views from above are simply stunning too!
  10. Karl, there is a thin layer of cloud here, looks like cirrus but it seems to be bubbling up under it in places.
  11. A couple of big Cu-Nim's north of here, built very rapidly from what seemed like nowhere, murky grey here with a gentle breeze, 28.3 degrees. Think it'll be ok, we may get some good storms later.
  12. A couple of very large Cu-Nim's seen to my North, building very very rapidly, sure to be some action under them shortly, circa 15-20 miles away
  13. Plenty of Ac about and some very high based Cu that are building rapidly to my South. Looks very unstable. Hit 25 just after 8 am this morning and climbing.
  14. Just hit 28 here, thankfully have a nice strong breeze to make it more bearable.
  15. Cloudy here all morning and currently 16C with the occasional light bit of rain, just wetting the surface. Hope it all kicks off this eve.
  16. Light drizzle here with a spot of sleet mixed in, temp 3.7
  17. Snowing here currently, small flakes but a dusting already!
  18. Had a covering of snow here but currently raining so it's all disappearing! Temp 2.3C
  19. Don't think they know where it'll go, certainly will be interesting to watch this eve. I suspect it'll pass down through the Midlands although would be great if it stayed out further East before crossing the country!!
  20. Showers readily turning to snow here, two beefy snow showers and currently snowing now, decent sized flakes, even starting to settle on shed roofs and grass. Roll on!!
  21. Temp here 5.4C and large shower passing through, rain currently :-(
  22. 1.6C currently here, broken cloud, slack breeze.
  23. Big shower passed to the South of me here, looked to be falling as snow, it looked white in the sunlight, if it made it to the ground as snow I know not. Temp 3.1C and dropping still.
  24. Just had some light sleet/snow only for a short while, temp 1.8C. Feels raw outside! Good luck to you all, be nice to wake up to a dusting.
