  1. White out again in Sheffield and looks like showers are beefing up again out to sea. Happy times
  2. Looks like another large shower about to hit southern Sheffield and Chesterfield. It's been a great day so far
  3. I've given up even looking at the weather apps/websites with regards snow. The models have some idea there will be snow but are useless at predicting exactly where in these easterly setups
  4. Looking good for the Sheffield area. Looks right in line for the streamer
  5. Hopefully we'll get a good amount more. There's a good covering here now in south Sheffield but hard not to be a little disappointed when you see what's been happening further north and around Kent
  6. Feeling a bit more confident that we might see a decent depth of snow. We went from literally nothing to 2-3cm (South Sheffield) with a very heavy 25min shower. Looks like it'll accumulate alot better now it's getting colder
  7. Heavy snow shower in South Sheffield, tiny flakes but it accumulated very quick
  8. Surely we are going to get alot of heavy snow showers forming later when the colder air arrives. I really don't want to be radar watching on Friday/Saturday, it'll be a slow motion car crash with the precipitation petering out to nothing by the time it arrived (if it got here at all)
  9. A winter of near misses in South Yorkshire. Lots of falling snow and generally a cold winter, but only small accumulations. More frustrating in many ways than a full on zonal winter, least expectations would have been low! Still time to rescue it tomorrow though!
  10. Tomorrow and Thursday do look considerably colder and winds pick up too - it'd be nice to at least get the grass properly covered!
  11. Love the way a Sheffield sized gap is appearing in the approaching heavy snow. Another 10 minute dusting on the cards!
  12. That English Channel streamer has been going on for many hours now. Such a waste of snow
  13. I suspect we'll end up with the dregs of the frontal snow on Friday/Saturday (if anything) and end up in a coldish/slack flow which is the worst case scenario. I think most of us will be looking for some spring warmth after this, not weeks of chilly dross!
  14. Intense showers to the south and north but we seem to have an endless stream of light nothingness heading for the South Yorkshire area. Hopefully it'll change later
  15. Looks like the heavy stuff is going to be a bit too far north for Sheffield. It's been a frustrating winter considering we've had good synoptics from both the NW and now NE. Lots of days with falling snow and some settling but nothing of note really. Hopefully Friday will deliver!
  16. It's just been so tedious this winter. Week after week of cold murk, very few storms and just general nothingness. Total boredom for anyone who enjoys some 'weather' of any kind
  17. It's been a horrendously tedious winter - not particular warm or zonal, just endless grey and chilly nothingness. One of the most boring winters for many years despite the often promising synoptics
  18. This year seems to have been very marginal in general on the snow front for the UK. I know many areas have had very little but here in Sheffield/Chesterfield we've had 2 heavy snow falls of over 20cm, 1 moderate one and several dustings. I've not been counting but I'm pretty sure we've had around 2 weeks of lying snow in total too. An above average winter really.
