Gggrrrr have a neighbour down the road that's had a broken gate for a couple of months, it must not have a clasp to keep it shut because during any breeze/gust it bangs all the time, surely they are aware crikey! anyway as that is stopping me settling for sleep I been thinking.....at least I have actually seen snow falling in 2015 & not so long ago at that.....even though it was for 3 x 5 minute bursts on a Saturday morning! wouldn't like to be out at sea tonight, Bailey forecast Hurricane Force 12 with 12 1/2 meter waves ! #StormFrank

Looks quite a lot of rain for us Wednesday afternoon (today), accompanied with some gusty winds ( nothing too major Amanda ), driving conditions with surface spray would be a hazard, Not quite sure what to make of tonight's outputs, little bit of everything on offer between 4th-9th (FI) a few more outputs needed over the next 48hrs before we can make a forecast IMO.

Monday was a fairly decent day here, some pleasant morning sunshine. its a little breezy outside currently and also some showery bursts of rain. Not convinced about any Easterly before Mid Jan tbh but hopefully I'm wrong. I like to see a few bites of the cherry before a proper blast sets in although I would happily take a two day cold snap currently lol some good clear frosty nights are what's needed widely across the UK

Although a cool down looks likely in FI I think plenty more rain is also on the cards sadly for the NW, perhaps some snow for the NE & Scotland. its a start! Get the cold in and I'm confident things will start to look exciting for us as we reach middle of next month which let's not forget is only the middle of winter and history tells us the 2nd part of winter is when our chances of snow are nearly always greater.

hhmmm we'll I see that must be worrying for you, I don't like severe gales perhaps 1987 had something to do with that when I was little and of course nobody wants to see falling trees, lose a fence or roof tiles, we probably get just as many wind storms in Summer, July can often be windy for example Now at present for us I really wouldn't worry yourself this far out, it's over a week away and that's a very long time in weather terms as you will well know by your questioning last week about this current spell of windy weather, it's not been too bad for us has it really and these things sometimes you need them to start happening before you can pin point any solid information, when it's a week away you could ask an opinion every 12hrs but it would change from run to run so you could well worry yourself over nothing....as per today. Yes today is breezy but nothing to get worried about. I'm more worried about Santa getting the round done in record time and perhaps forgetting me At present I would say next week Weds into Thurs for us not looking too worrying, if I was in the North West then I would have an eye on it, at present for here I think there is more to look at around the 4th/5th in terms of much colder weather. P.S might be an idea to put your location in your profile, not the exact address or road but the nearest Town etc so when your asking questions you might get a better answer as West Kent can be different from East Kent for example.

Do you only worry about wind in December and January Amanda?....I'll be more worried about my wind after tomorrow's dinner than the wind gusts this afternoon to be honest .....Seen bigger wind gusts in Summer. Now it's in FI but wow the GFS for the first week of Jan nearly made me spit my tea out all over the laptop, that's a very interesting chart, one the best I've seen for a while, just a shame so far out.

Amanda I see your attention has switched from this weeks gusts to next weeks storm potential .......same applies, needs a couple more days for anything to be nailed on. But yeah looks nasty if it comes off as shown currently and I'd raise an eyebrow if I lived in Scotland or the NW, plenty of time for changes though so don't worry yet and enjoy your Christmas

Horrible day and yep very mild so I guess atleast the boiler doesn't take a pounding. Like I keep saying yes we can get decent cold spells in March and April with snow but I for one DO NOT want that even if the Winter doesn't bring us snow. Spring and especially April is all about early warmth, good blooms and enjoying the lighter days, cannot rely on Summer to give us plenty of wall to wall sunshine in this country. Looks like we are going to have to be patient yet again, the only good thing is after the last couple of years everyone seems a bit more relaxed about itthis time around.

Hi all Yesterday was a bit of a disappointment here, was mild but also had rain/drizzle most the afternoon on and off. Today started lovely with sunny spells but now is clouding up ahead of this afternoon's rain. Christmas Eve looks Wet during afternoon but a clear night so we may catch a glimpse of Santa's sleigh before Midnight then it clouds up again before he starts to park in the gardens Christmas Day looks like it will get milder and milder as the day goes on lol leading into a mild & cloudy Boxing Day.

No, not updates as of yet, I'm sure when you read this or the MO thread nearer the time there will be more information, especially if any heads up is needed. Plus also if Met Office release warnings. To me looks nothing more that a couple of blustery wet days, gusts hitting around 40mph in exposed locations, nothing much to worry about apart from surface spray on the roads, hope that eases your concerns for a few days.

What a yucky morning, It seems this mildness will continue to bring the drab that goes with it Is it just me that is not feeling Christmas at all? The weather, no good Christmas films on tv yet, out and about doesn't feel like Christmas in regards to atmosphere in places. Feels weird having Christmas Decorations up with this mild weather, now I know what it's like having a Christmas in Sydney

Welcome back Amanda, I see the threat of gusts has made you come out of hibernation same as earlier in year really, at this stage too early to know for certain. We should know more by the end of the week, I think it will just be tricky driving conditions when the gusts are accompanied by heavy rain showers.

Well Well Well all is not lost for Christmas just yet, A mild lead up then a few days before a Cold blast could be just what we need A N'ly/NE'ly around the 20th, let's see how this goes over the next day or two. At least we have something of interest to look at is nothing else for a few days in the MO Oh and BTW if Mr Snowman said to me ppppsssssttt fella I can't bring you snow on Christmas Day but I can give you some light snow between the 20th and the 24th Dec if you want some but that'll be it for the rest of Winter..... I'd take it LOL
