  1. A dusting of snow here, mainly on cars and grass. Precip at the moment is falling as pellets and snow mix.
  2. The forecast was 'breezy in the morning' from most sources for Shell Island in North Wales but what ensued were gale force winds from around 1am through till 10am which destroyed many a tent including ours in the night. I was battling sustained winds of around 20mph and gusts at 45mph so a rough night. The god send was no rain and it was fairly mild compared to Friday night. Sadly we left early with damaged tents so a little annoyed with the forecast today especially as it was bright and warm in sun but wind was too bad to even think about re setting up.
  3. A good dusting this morning across the area as far south as Cannock.
  4. What is more odd is that he left the BBC a few weeks ago. Maybe this was his last swansong as they were desperate.
  5. First rain in several weeks here. Quite heavy for a time but hasn't done much to the dusty soil.
  6. Yeah I think thats what I remember Kelley for best is that even during the smallest of events or non-severe weather like snow etc, he was always out on the road and thus we'll have a gap in coverage now.
  7. Yes this is a tragic accident. Luckily his Youtube stream broke up as the crash occurred but you can see him blowing towards the junction which has the stop sign. Sadly not wearing a seatbelt didn't help. Will miss his chasing!
  8. I like Tomasz and don't find any of the others as interesting as him. We're left with a bunch of dullards now bar Helen Willett.
  9. For those who miss TVN chasers, there is a new platform online, launched overnight and Brett and Brandon are streaming on it: https://livestormchasing.com/map
  10. Some from up on the Peaks this morning, several inches above 1300ft. Snow levels were very variable though and fog an issue in parts.
  11. Snowing again at Flash, could be another couple of hours of snow up high.
  12. Flash looking fairly deep (possibly deepest this season), but I can't see it lasting long this morning.
  13. Good covering at Flash, always nice to see it fresh when it is late at night/
  14. Plenty of snow at Flash: http://www.maccinfo.com/Flash/IndexLive.html
  15. This was Doris up on the Peak District. Here I was hiding behind the car as it was so strong: https://youtu.be/80y2xdyhP0w This was a badly front faced video which I struggled to shoot due to the wind blowing my phone and me around but you get a better idea of the noise/wind speed: https://youtu.be/A9UOw0v9leg And one more: https://youtu.be/GSs4ab3qZvs

  17. A damaging day locally but mainly to fences and garden objects not tied down. If this was America some houses would have probably had lots of damage due to being wooden but our fairly solid structures feel quite safe even during the peak winds. Midlands Today reported Stoke at 60mph and Leek reaching 70mph. I think Leeks station is at Thorncliffe which is the village below the hills. I drove that way today and Thorncliffe was quite calm at the time, but as I drove up to 1500ft it turned nasty with driving sleet and sustained winds must have been 60mph+.
  18. I have some video and photos but there wasn't much to see, the snow wasn't settling and more sleety in nature and it was misty. I'll get some online soon!
  19. Just been up to Flash in Peak District and wind is roaring there. Couldn't stand up. Wintry mix as well. However as soon as you are back in Leek it is oddly calm.
  20. Winds really picked up in last 10 minutes.
  21. Fairly average here too. Gusts strong at times but not a consistant wind. Had breezier days. That said strongest winds not due yet...but if the outerbands nothing special.
  22. Could be in line for strongest winds in North Midlands. I can remember 60mph storms before, but not 80mph if it comes off. Peak District will be a bleak place with potential for snow. That said I'm ready for some more interesting weather than lately.
  23. I posted this originally in the North West thread but as I was in the Peak District, I feel its close enough for some. This was from Sunday in some amazing conditions at Dovestones. It was a near blizzard at the top of the hills, luckily as the snow wasn't large flakes it wasn't a whiteout but the wind was pushing us and the snow stinging your face when you faced it. Also a video here from the summit of Indians Head: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nLZvMLC05SA And one on the climb down:

  25. -2c still which was the overnight low too. Not seen a day like this in years. Dry as a bone too with no frost. Wind chill is biting.
